I was initially underwhelmed and overwhelmed too. Now I think this is some of her best work, especially the Anthology stuff, even if it's not as cohesive an experience as most of her other albums.
i actually loved it. it felt like she just had a lot of shit she had to get off her chest, and i really appreciate feeling like we are getting a more raw (read:unhinged) look into her life. I also just love a chill album, so im more inclined to like it lol you might like the extra tracks more! appreciate your take ♡♡
I like your take hahaha the unhinged part, so true, I also appreciate her just releasing whatever, whenever and how ever many she wants, she feed her fans incredibly 😂 I do love chill but I suppose more indie and earthy sounds, I’m tired of Jack tbh. But yeah a few have said I should enjoy the second half more. Thanks for the love regardless of us differing 🤍
@bennshouts I do agree that she should branch out and experiment with producers/sound. The rest of the extra tracks are more in line with folklore/evermore to me. And for sure, everyone likes what they like! Lol
Honestly I agree w u on everything. Not sure I’ll return to it soon either but it was okay as an album. It’s amazing how much music u listen to to me! If you are ever running out I think you’d enjoy Ellie Goulding’s discography :)
This is perhaps the most chaotic release day ever! Every track has their own unique charm, especially if you or someone you know has gone through similar experiences mentioned in these songs 🎵🫶✨
Love your reactionnnnssss❤also I know you hate deluxes but the Anthology in my opinion is more like a part 2 like she divided it to have the extra surprise at 2am for the fans but they are meant to be together(?). STILL, please no pressure if you don't feel like it, it's ok. And always at your time, never rush yourself with any reaction. we will be blessed whatever it is and whenever it is Your videos always make me smile, hope you are doing good and taking care of yourself❤✨ Also yeah, Dead Poets Society is the movie you were thinking about and I kept saying the title of the album wrong hahahah edit: I'm finishing the video and idk do if you feel like it the Anthology but I don't remember it being so different production-wise so I can't guarantee you would like it honestly. Maybe there has to be certain mood(? but do what you feel❤
Please we need a reaction to I’m doing it again baby by girl in red it’s a short 28 minute project yet managed to be one of my favorite projects of the year so far
I absolutely loved his album but it was such a devastating experience listening to it. I had to take breaks between some of the saddest ones to fully process it without just bawling
It def has A LOT of lyrics to take in at once! I’m glad you loved it tho!! You must be going through it, cause to connect with it means you’re hurting 😭😭
imo the first songs off each part of the double album are the best then it falls off, the writing and melodies are nice, the production is just so bland and unexciting that you get bored abit
@@bennshoutsdon’t waste your time on it. Folklore is much much better and even Evermore is supreme. The Anthology is inspired from that era, which is unnecessary to be made into another album - it fell flat and ‘samey’ with the touch of this Poets Dept.
I would say this album was for her not for us if that makes sense. The songs do really connect to each other lyrically if you actually analyze and link lyrics. I definitely agree the production is a bit lacking but I think that was part of the point of it. It’s a collection of poems written in the stages of grief of a relationship.
The second half of the (second) album is way more with tasteful and authentic in my opinion, the production refrains from using the same synths etc. And uses more instruments / acoustic. Strongly reccomend that side of The album 😁
I really enjoyed my first listen and the solemness in a lot of tracks. It feels emotionally captivating so I don't mind the similar topics of songs. I do agree about the production tho, I feel like it could've definitely been elevated in some places and I actually have a problem with the sameness of production with some tracks from her albums as well.
Hey, do you think you could react to Night Time, My Time by Sky Ferreira? It’s a really really great album and I think you would LOVE it! She was one of the 2013 tumblr queens😂
as a huge fan of all her previous albums, im very disappointed in the standard version of this one :( a lot of the anthology tracks are much, much better but still as a whole this album is soo crazily odd coming from her… what happened ??
i don’t listen to taylor just saw the thumbnail and had to pop in and say the hair is GIVINGGGGGG !! sidenote… were you planning on listening to cowboy carter? i’m so curious to know what you’d think :o
@@bennshoutseven if you don’t like the production, the writing on cowboy carter is particularly beautiful- it’s up to you ofc but i think a lot of us would love to watch :’)
Cowboy Carter is one of her greatest albums! The lyrics, the production and overall theme of the album is incredible! It should be a sin to not listen to CC 🐴🤠
@@bennshouts I just listened to the whole album myself and I echo your sentiments! It kind of feels very...one note? I think she's a great writer, but because she's a great writer, I wish there was more "oomph" to the music.
Need a faye Webster reaction to her new album and her self titled album from 2017 both are fantastic and relatively short considering the length of albums in this era
I wish I liked the album more, it’s almost to chill for my taste I also feel like all the songs kinda sound the same. She is great though and a stellar song writer
Taylor needs to stay from Jack and Aaron for now. Also, the way Taylor sings, brings nothing new to the table. It sounds the same as her previous records. Her attack with the lyrics is the same. Artistically flat for me. She’s trying hard and this doesn’t work. It’s all over the place.
❤❤Love it.... but in this reaction video l didn't get much of you reacting to the songs because you cut the video short this should've taken 1 hour or so but yours only took 30 minutes 😢😢 It felt like you were in a rush or something or you were bored, to a point were you cutted out the parts l wanted to see your reaction to in some lyrics in the songs
I cut out any part where I was literally just sitting there listening, which at times were minutes on end which explains the short lengths, I really just didn't connect with most of the production which just ruined the entire album for me, while some incredibly written songs, the production was so boring/bland/same/uninspiring I just sat there 🥲 Sorry
I feel like, at this point, some of us would be more inclined to like an actual just book of poetry by her rather than a Jack album 😬 Cannot deny the writing, but I do sometimes tire of his sameness… and I say this as a huge Swiftie who still likes the majority of the album! Just some of it is glittery synthy repetition.
@@bennshouts The Anthology tho… bless Aaron Dessner. To the rescue!! Such a great example of how to do chill music that is still interesting! Production doesn’t have to be big or booming to be FULL.
@@bennshouts one of the reasons I love watching your reaction videos is because you give your true thoughts and opinions, even if they aren’t the most positive. So while I’m sorry that you didn’t like I’m, I’m also glad someone else agrees with me 😂
I agree. Unfortunately, out of the 31 songs, I only really LIKED 4 or 5 of them. I listened to this album 3 times trough and only remember like 5 songs it all is just one big blur.
I really dont think you were in a good headspace to listen to this at all. That said im surprised you didnt think it was cohesive narratively is intresting, i think Taylor has reached a point in her music where its so self influencial whether of her real life or her previous music or even online lore. Its become alienating for general listeners i think you lose a lot of the nuance if you havent got the history
It's just the same bluddy thematic concepts every album.....this is starting to wear thin on me, especially as the actual music has been stagnating, with the same Antanoff production.....i'd like to see her play with other ideas and concepts, both musically and intellectually.
I actually love it, but it gets better with additional listens. It is heart breaking. It is not ground breaking- it is relatable ! People who take the time to really listen experience feelings and emotions with it. That can be very cathartic.
This album is such a disappointment, it needed to be narrowed down to 10 or 12 songs. Jack's production lacks of innovation, like he's running on circles. Loved your honesty and I agree with you.
I skimmed the album on Spotify and it's sound is just as plain as a piece of sliced bread left outiside it's bag. Flavorless. Boring. Repetitive. I'm talking mainly sonically. But I've read that the themes from Midnights are repeating here. Guess is her flop era? She has the right to fail as well, which is good for the soul...
I dont think she can fail ha, this will become one of her biggest selling I think - purely because of her already incredible status! I agree though, its not her best work and very very samey
One of the most boring, bland and forgettable albums she’s ever made. All the songs sound exactly the damn same and the writing can only make up for so much. Really disappointed, and the fact this is gonna end up overshadowing a ton of actual good albums that are coming out around this time is beyond frustrating…
I'm actually really confused about these "sounds the same" comments because I don't think it does at all? I think she's done things on this album she's never done before, and every song sounds different to me. What is there, though, is multiple sonic references to her own music I think *intentionally* due to the lyrical content, like she's doing sonic call backs. As well as lyrical call backs but maybe they only feel intentional and clever if you're a big enough fan? It reminds me a lot of Halsey and her call backs/lyrical consistencies actually. Perhaps the "sameness" comes from her voice/writing style, or maybe a bit of self-fulfilling prophecy with haters going into it to hate and then others being influenced by their opinions. Also I guess the expectation for every single thing to be next-level out of this world that people place on her is just... super unrealistic? Music can be good without being groundbreaking (despite her doing different stuff lol). Anyways sorry for the essay, this just might actually be my 2nd favourite album of hers (all 31 tacks) right after folklore. It's such an interesting mix of world-building/story telling while being, i think, the most personal album she's ever written. I understand if this music isn't everyone's vibe but that doesn't make it bad.
I liked it, i mean, i guess im also getting older so i dont need bubblegum pop/2:30 length songs to accommodate today's younger attention spans? Idk lol
It's such a masterpieceeeeeee and deserves the AOTY it'll likely get nominated for! The lyricism is beyond compare, no pop artist can even get close to that. It's literally modern day poetry, which has been missing sooooo much in Beyonces and Arianas albums this year (as demonstrated by their sales and chart performances....) It doesn't sound cheap, cheesy and isn't over-doing it, exactly the reason i've hated Eternal Sunshine an Cowboy Carter. Taylor has done it again.
@@mandoz353 go cry about it louder, maybe Taylor will read this and provide you with free napkins she'll buy using the 330 million streams from yesterday.
