Her remarkable performance on the junior circuit led to her being named the 2012 ITF Junior World Champion. In 2022 Us open Townsend made her mark by reaching to the doubles final in a grand slam partnering Catty McNally. In 2023 Townsend continued to shine more in the court by reaching the doubles final at the 2023 French Open alongside Leylah Fernandez as well as the mixed doubles semifinal at the 2023 US Open alongside Ben Shelton.
