Jose Larios III carefully when you say America, cause America is a Continent, and not a country. If you refert to the USA, then I think you should start to call it like it is., the Unitet States in north America. America is always being from South to north America, long before the imigrants from the rest of the World came. Now you been from the EEUU, Call yourself as the Americans, Well let me tell my friend, thats the most ridicoulous I been hearing. America is always been a Continent formed by the native Americans from South to north til, the the Europians came.

The problem I see is at the grassroots level. Most people in the US still see "soccer" as a joke. Its still considered as a sport for little teenage girls who are not talented enough to do anything else. Hell, a lot of them neither know nor care about what MLS is. Most parents don't encourage their kids to pursue it because, quite frankly, the career options in that regard are not as vast as other sports. When 90% of your country's population don't give a toss about the sport nevermind the league, how are the national team expected to beat teams from countries where "soccer" is all they live for?

The biggest problem with American soccer? Children have to pay to play. It's a sport of the privileged here. The kids from low income backgrounds get overlooked for kids that have the money to play travel ball.

There's no pride in this team...Trinidad and Tobago had pride, Argentina had pride and made it in...Panama, Egypt...every other country that made the World Cup or played spoiler to other countries had pride and played with gusto. There's none of that on the USMNT. They should be sick they'd think they need to be revived at the hospital or something. Shitty performance. 😡😡😡😡😝😝😝😝. Dr0pkidd relegation means worst teams in a league one season plays a league lower the next, replaced by teams earning promotion up. Example: Detroit Tigers failure this year would make them AAA in 2018, replaced by Durham Bulls earning promotion up to be MLB team in 2018.

That makes no sense at all. Brazil, Germany, The Netherlands, are all of them, big names both in male as in female football. The USA has a problem with the sport, but is more than gender-related. You just have the money, but you lack the "hunger" for winning, and oportunities to meet actual challenge on the field. Mexico and Costa Rica are pretty much the only "real" national teams you get to play against, and even them are no really ranked very high compared to ( for example) most South America or Europe. You'll never improve as long as you keep playing B-teams.

Look at Jozy Altidore's Career, this pretty much sums up American Soccer.. In England - 70 Games - 2 Goals In United States - 109 Games - 51 Goals As you can see, when Altidore played in the most competitive league in the world he failed miserably and is considered one of the worst Premier League strikers of all time. When he moves to the MLS he starts scoring goals for fun, coincidence? I think not. The problem is the MLS is of an incredibly poor standard. Your players aren't good enough to play with the elite players in Europe, hence why the majority of USMNT still play in the MLS. Only a handful of players have been successful in Europe.

The problem with football in order to compete in the world you gotta start from day one. most american players in the us who are professional are college players that have played other sports full time or started late on. the school system in america is trash, you can't play football the way america plays its other sports because the bar is raised to a certain level and the us need to play with that level. MLS is gonna go nowhere unless academy players are more easily incorporated, and if you can't find players in the academy system that are good enough then you won't go far in the world cup. If you do have the players then you need to introduce pro/rel, I as a union fan saying this, believe that pro/rel will make american football better overall. You can complain mls doesn't need that, well guess what, its not about the mls, it's about the country as a whole. You need to be able to access thousands of millions of players and with the current system you can access maybe 1000 players of these players a lot aren't american, and most of these players are college players that aren't at the level of any of the national team players. You gotta understand pro/rel isn't for mls, it's for the country, it's so that I can go to my local field and watch a division 5 or 6 or maybe 2 or 3 team compete and want to compete to lift trophies and play with the best, not to collect a paycheck. I'm sorry but mls is letting you fail, there statement even confirms that, anyone who is behind mls as a full time league without pro/rel is not looking at the bigger picture, it might take longer but you will get a more efficient and consistent outcome.

I think the style of American soccer is really not that good and a huge part of that is player development. There is no creativity and no flair in American soccer with it's players. The exception is Pulisic who is a world class talent at such a young age. There a few other players who merit playing in the national team but at most maybe 5 have the quality to be on the national team roster. MLS is a huge part of player development but they fail because they want to Americanize soccer and make it like the NFL or NBA. If the MLS sacrificed their revenue for player development by adding promotion and relegation more talent would definitely be discovered. The fact is a lot of USL and NASL teams are capable and have beaten MLS teams and that there says a lot about the quality of the MLS and is also a reason for promotion and relegation to be added. But this is America where all they care about is money and they bring in old European talents past their prime to add attention to the league instead of making changes that will help in finding and developing homegrown talent.

Alejandro Vega We have a soccer/futbol league that uses Pro-Reg. It’s called the NASL, and it’s going out of business because they don’t have money. It’s easy to say that the EPL doesn’t care as much about money while MLS does when the two aren’t even remotely close in terms of revenue. The EPL has been around for centuries and brings in BILLIONS of dollars annually. The MLS is a baby, only 20 years old. It also has FAR fewer teams spread over a MUCH larger land mass and has a fraction of the earning power of the EPL. It’s like comparing a low middle class family to Bill Gates and asking why the Middle Class family doesn’t spend as much as Bill Gates. You can afford to lose $100 million when you’ve been making $100 billion for decades. You can’t afford that when you’re net worth isn’t even $100 million

You have to get the NCAA, USSF, MLS, AYSO, Pay-to-play, NASL, USL together and put money and ego aside and great a bottom to top system that allows players to get the technical skills and quality coaching in their early years. Also, relegation has nothing to do with creating a better national team, league or quality of play. I'm not against it but Twellman is blowing smoke.

It all started when the USA prevented Costa Rica from qualifying to the 2010 WC. People say "They were pros, it's their job" and I agree to some point, but four years later they did the same thing to Panama. That may still be "their job" but it seemed like they enjoyed eliminating teams that way. Things went worse when the US Soccer tweeted "hey Mexico you're welcome", aimed to mock at Mexico but mocking Panama and to a lesser extent Costa Rica, because that tweet is like saying "Hey we do this to laugh on your faces." Now that is NOT professionalism, it's arrogance. @ussoccer is the only official football federation account I've seen that uses social media to mock other fellow federations. I almost forgot to mention that US Soccer forced Costa Rica to play under a heavy snowfall when that very same day a match in Europe was actually postponed for the same reason (Hell, even a match as important as Argentina vs Brazil has been postponed because of RAIN). Another thing I can't just overlook was the scandal at the 2015 Gold Cup, perpetrated by American referees Eric Boria and Mark Geiger. Now, let's remember the Copa América Centenario. Minutes after Chile defeated Mexico 7-0, @ussoccer tweeted "We're proud to represent CONCACAF at the semi-finals." Fine, another tweet mocking Mexico AND the rest of CONCACAF, just to see the USA getting thrashed by Argentina in that match. They way the players mocked the Trinidad and Tobago stadium during the training was the straw that broke the camel's back. I bet they would've been mad if, for example, Costa Ricans started to build snowmen all over the stadium at the SnowClásico match.

Fast forward to three years later and the USMNT has two CONCACAF Gold Cup Finals against Mexico and were 1-1 (RU in 2019; Winners in 2021) and a 2019-21 CONCACAF Nations League title. The USMNT and Italy, two of the major heavy hitters in association football/soccer who went from failing to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup to winning titles three years later. Their rebirths continue.

The irony here is almost tangible. He espouses the problem of US arrogance while having a melt down that the US didn't make it to the World Cup. Eh, the US had a couple of bad results. It's football, it happens all the time. That's why it's the greatest sport in the world. Until the US realize that the best athletes don't necessarily make the best footballers, then we'll be having this conversation again in future.

There is no irony. He has been talking about the problems for years. Irony would be if he thought the USA's team was better than they actually are. If anything he can see the potential of the country and is flabbergasted that no-one else in the federations see it. I have been playing and watching football since I was a kid, and he is right about development, and pressure. If a team like Portugal lost to Trinidad, even if Portugal qualified, there would be heads rolling. When Portugal drew against the United States in the WC, the feeling of the country was what you see here from this guy. Also, it is not arrogance when the USA is clearly a better team than Trinidad. Yes, they lost, but they would win probably 9 out of 10 matches against this team if they played to win the match rather than strolling around. Well, I am happy, I couldn't bare the news about Americans pretending to care about "soccer" for a month, and then when they get knocked out arrogantly saying "we don't care". Keep playing your sports.

promotion-relegation rules will add that pressure necessary to drive the players to get out their best on the pitch, not only that, but it's important because now you would have talented individuals who had no chance before to play in the MLS and no chance to be discovered, play for a smaller club and if they're good enough scouts/people would notice the talent and help them move to the higher division and this makes it more focused on development rather than money

Finally, someone asked the question I've been asking and studying for years now: "What are the women doing right?" This is why: if everything in US Soccer is so bad, and we're not doing anything right here, our women shouldn't be dominating the way they are. So in spite of little girls having to play with boys growing up because there weren't girls leagues (all my recreational teams until high school were co-ed), in spite of the absence of a strong (or even existent) women's domestic league, they are STILL putting together teams that can dominate on the international level. That's against the run of play as they say in England LoL. Because the alleged failures of the FA isn't hindering them from finding good players and literally establishing an assembly line of players that can come in every 4-8 years and achieve the same successful results as the generation before them. I'm not even mentioning the clearly defined formation and effective style of play, people can't handle it LoL. It's NOT gender specific because 10 years ago Germany remodeled their system to accomplish exactly what our women have done. Spain's been doing it, Japan's been doing it with the men AND women (World Cup 2011 winners I rest my case), Belgium is working on it. So I say, why look at these other countries when all we have to do is look next door? But we won't, because all I keep hearing is "they're women, it's not as tough for them, there's no pressure on them, our men are better than the women simply because they're stronger and faster" apparently. I'd take Alex Morgan or Abby Wambach over Jozy Altidore any day. Their individual numbers are the female equivalent of Wayne Rooney's in the men's game, but there's NOTHING we can learn from them because they're women?? Sorry, that's ridiculous to me and I'm a guy.

Soccer historically has been a poor-middle class sport throughout the world, but only in the US have we made it possible to charge $5,000 for an A License, 3-5,000 per year to play for an academy, requiring coaches throughout the US to get USSF licenses to coach an academy as if the NSCAA diplomas aren’t good enough.

On the comment made in the 20th second, starting the run on second 14; in regards to RSL Ruiz tackle on Miami Messi. The tackle is made from behind tripping Lio's right leg with his own left leg before even touching the ball and while he's pulling Messi's left shoulder. How can the commentator not see the foul? If the tackle is from behind and after the fact that Messi beat him and Ruiz recurred to the last resort to bringing down because Lio was about to create a dangerous play. How can the commentator be convinced that it was not a call worthy of a yellow card? I could probably understand this many years ago, when technology was not that advance, but good lord, they can review it just like us here, in slow motion.
