I play in senior groups and leagues. The number one fault I see is the old guys refuse to play anything other than a Pro V1. They are almost always short on approaches, and their pitches stop way too soon.
First and foremost, solid job on all of your reviews..! You spoke of the INK ball being “chaotic and overwhelming after time”. I can remember back years ago in the sport of bowling.., bowling balls were mainly black or few other solid colors. And then the industry starting making swirled and many other colored balls as they do today to attract along with performance. TM are the industries leaders of changing the-ball appearance, absolutely no doubt about it with great success they think out of the box for sure. In my opinion, this is not a trend. It’s proven to be very successful. And one day, the solid white ball of golf will be like the solid black ball of bowling. Basically extinct.
Great take. Honestly I have more more people providing wonderful feedback about the ink. People seem to like it a lot more than I thought they would. Which is funny because I am actually a guy that is pretty fashion forward and I love out there designs. I just know the golf ball industry is usually more traditional. I'm glad to see it's getting away from that a little
Playing the yellow version currently. My senior swing likes the distance and overall performance. I spin the ball several times to get the least vibration then mark the alignment. Priced in the mid twenties where I live.
For me is a new player I honestly have to say I've had about every golf ball in my bag and hit many different ones but the one I keep reaching for all the time is a Callaway super soft hot pink is definitely easy to find as well I find I can get the best control by far of where my ball is going to fly to. It definitely feels like a slower heavier ball compared to others but the low compression is a huge help for now I'll be sticking with the super softs until my game improves They definitely seem slow on the greens though
Have played this golf ball (Speedsoft Ink) for about a month or so, I love it. I get great distance off the tee and surprising control around the green. I bought them with a healthy dose of skepticism, but they perform as advertised for me. I am a slow swing speed senior and a high (18) handicapper. Love this golf ball. Will definitely be buying them again.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. I love the fact that so many people are falling in love with this golf ball. It's a great step forward for TaylorMade as a brand.
I've tried them for 2 weeks.I like to feel off the driver and the irons and fairwoods.Feel really good and the wedges. However, for me, my 135 yd pitch shot Repeatedly was bouncing off the back of the green. Where as I pull out a vice pro plus and hit the same shot And the vice drops and stops. So unfortunately not for me. Just the lack of greenholding power was the only downside for me..
@@GolfBallAddict check out the packaging on both, confirms where each ball is made. I only realised after using the ink and loving it I used a white speedsoft and it was a different feel so I dug further and that’s when I found on the boxes that the white was made in China and the ink in Korea.
GREAT DATA!!! And the design is very information overload. I play the Vice drip but it's very subtle design. However, the Hi-Vis yellow looks more appealing to me and if they are on sale for $20 a dozen I'll grab a few boxes.
I tried the Speedsoft recently and really like it. I'm a fairly slow club speed senior that normally uses the TP5. This ball seems really close to it for me and much cheaper. I did go get a pack of the inked blue ones today, and did confirm someone elses comment that the white ones are made in China and the inked ones are made in Taiwan. If you had the time it would be really interesting if there WAS a difference in the China/white vs. the Taiwan/inked. Thanks for the review!
I will definitely look into that for sure. Yes this golf ball will perform a lot better in the long run than a tp5 for that type of swing speed. Even me myself have trouble compressing tp5s.
At 85 MPH club head speed, your smash factor is near 1.50, 2500 RPM is perfect driver backspin, and 15 degree launch angle is perfect. The lack of rollout is due to how soft the ball is. Everything I see in your data tells me this is a phenomenal ball for you. Also, this ball visually answers the question, “What if Vice made the Callaway SuperSoft?”
That's good news. Someone asked me earlier what color would be easiest to see and honestly I couldn't think of one off top of my head. Sometimes the colors you think would be the easiest actually blend in well
Played scrambles yesterday. Wison zip for driver and long approach shots, callaway chromesoft for 150 out and chipping/putting around the green. Looking forward to your reviews this year. For me, for now, best results are the zip and chromesoft. Love MGS but your reviews fit most average weekend players. Forgiveness factor is so overlooked. My driver SS low 90s. Keep up the great work.
I did play these a full round yesterday 4/21/24, I out drove the white tee young guys, (allowing for my forward tees) quite a few times, I’m 71. They’re in the their 50’s. It’s very easy to identify this ball which I like. I’m use to playing the TM Tour Response stripe, another good distance ball with urethane. I hit a Cleveland #2 hybrid off the tee.
This ball is made for slow swing speed with a compression of 50. I have ditched my driver and use my 3 wood instead carrying around 220 meters rolling out to around 240 I'm at sea level in Perth Australia. I love this ball using the green and blue.
Glad you both enjoy them. Honestly it seems like the feedback has been awesome and I'm happy for TaylorMade with that. In the past I have not been very happy with their two-piece golf balls. They definitely made some massive improvements
Not only does it look cool but it’s my favorite budget ball. I love my TP5s and Chrome Tours but if I’m in a pinch and don’t feel like risking losing my good balls I love the speed softs
Had some for my birthday 81 I'm afraid played four rounds with the same ball love them they have added 10 to 20 yds on my hybrids and driver ball still perfect. Ray, UK
I've been gaming this ball for two months now I tried the green inked it was not bad but I do agree when lining up my putts as the bold line is nice too much going on with the ink . I then ordered the all white they gave the option of a red line for a bit more price $32 not $25 oh well the line is nice Worth the extra due to last much longer than a sharpie Milwaukee of course. In conclusion These two piece balls are very nice I'm a 7 hdycap for the price these are my new ProV .
I did buy the blue ink ones but think I will buy some solid yellows on the next order for some variety. That being said I do like the blue ink ones. I bought 4 boxes of them. Being a senior low swing speed golfer I really appreciate a ball like this. Lots of color choices . I have played 3 rounds with these now with solid results. There is quite a number of good reviews on youtube about these speed softs as well. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad one.
I'm so glad that TaylorMade stepped it up this year. I've always had lukewarm results with their golf balls. However this golf ball really impressed me all around
@@GolfBallAddict I agree. Its not the easiest thing to find an above average golf ball in this price range either. This one ticks a lot of boxes. It actually checks up well on various shots. A rare happening in the price class. Goes a long way off my various clubs as well. Its hard to find something not to like on this ball. This actually might make other companies step up their game in the category.
@@GolfBallAddict Yes, and if the loud color ones are too much for someone solid yellow and whites are available. The choices are there. I have continued to use the speedsofts. Its my new ball. Before that I was using the Callaway Supersoft. I think the speed softs go further and have a better feel to them. They also check up better. I bought a couple of boxes of the high visibility yellow ones recently. They stand out on the course pretty well.
My kind of design - just love it . I guess as long as someone else in your foursome isnt using the same one, there's no problem . Even my white balls, I put lots of designs on them. Just find white way too boring !! I know you love your alignment aids , but after trying DOZENS of balls with all kinds of alignment arrows/lines etc. , I found that NONE of them improve my putting results. Am in the process of trying these, and although they do seem better than most mid price range TM balls, I dont think they'll replace the Vice Pro Soft Drip !! But as you say , if you cant handle the wildness, by all means try the white, lol - btw, I'm 75, so not an age thing 😉
I'm 24, but I'm very moral based, and quite a nostalgic person. I don't like the design, i much prefera plain yellow ball., maybe the performance can change my view.
I bought some of these and will try them out this week. The ink design looked a bit busy for my eye so I bought them in hi vis yellow. As a newer and more senior golfer I normally play a Callaway Supersoft or a Titelist TruFeel, so am keen to see how they compare.
Great review and I appreciate your honesty! I’ve played the TM Tour Response since it came out, love it. I’ve tried a lot of balls, a lot, new ones when they come out but nothing has kicked the TM TS out of my bag. Based on your review, gonna try this ball. We’ll see what happens!!
The speed soft really came out of nowhere and I love it. When I reviewed it I knew it was a very good golf ball that was a significant improvement over anything TaylorMade had put before. A couple months later however, I have had dozens of people share feedback of how they absolutely cannot get rid of the ball. That's a great win for TaylorMade
Getting older, my swing speed and distance had declined by about 30 yards. With this ball I can not hit a bad shot. Straight and gained my 30-40 yards back
Alot of work. You put in alot of hours!! Great stuff Like some of your followers 90 percent of my golf is scramble play where i do not have to play the same ball. In your opinion what would you use for driver, long iron, short iron, chipping, and then putting. Thank you for your time 👍
Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words and you watching. This is a really good question. Assuming your swing speed is around the same as mine, here are some setups that would be good for scramble team. Driver - long iron: Chrome tour, Mizuno x, Snell get sum, srixon diamond Mid and short irons: Chrome tour, Max fli straight, get sum, Wilson duo Short game and putting: this could be more personal preference, however I highly recommend something with a really big and noticeable alignment tool. Alignment tools and scrambles are huge because it will allow your playing partners to know if you miss hit a putt or if you just misread it
Don't know if you saw this, but vice has completely revamped their entire line. They even got rid of the Zero. Might be time for some retesting with the new monitor! Vice week 2.0!
I really like this golf ball. I like the driving distance and the feel off the driver, 3 wood and irons. I like the markings as I putt. I will continue to game this golf ball. I am a senior woman golfer.
That's awesome! I love that you love the golf ball. I never thought about it from a woman's perspective, perhaps my mom would enjoy playing it as well. She currently plays the Reva and loves it but she is open to new golf balls.
Odd Question/comment: Backspin is good to hold greens, but when that spin goes sideways it's bad. Is Spin a good or bad thing when making a ball choice (weekend golfer)...or is this more of a ball forgiveness topic?? To whom it may concern, what's the ball choice for slicers? (of course practice help :) Example TP5 vs ERC Soft.
This is actually a really good question. See the thing is, side spin isnt bad if you are an advanced player and you need workability in your iron shots. However speaking for myself, I have nowhere near that skill level. So then yes the side spin becomes bad. If you are wanting to eliminate as much side spin as possible, definitely want to stick to a two-piece model. There are a ton of great options that are easy on the wallet and have a ton of forgiveness. I would recommend checking out my top 20 list out of my top 100. There are a lot of good ones in there.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback and all of your videos. I feel like you’re a regular golfer, for the regular golfers out there lol. Imagine that, a channel focused on value. 😎
50 something checking in and I love these balls!! Most of the ladies league agree, they are cool and they fly far! Also play Taylormade Tour Response, and the Speedsoft Ink are right up there at a better price point!
Has your swing speed changed lately? From your season 4 data collection, this is the SLOWEST & SHORTEST ball. The worst in 9i and 5h and the 2nd worst in 7i and Driver in terms of carry and total distance.
It has changed a little. It's definitely a little faster by a mile per hour or two then when I reviewed the speed soft. However there is something else to keep in mind as well. Sometimes a golf ball gets reviewed in an early stage and then golf balls after it reset the market. For example. When I initially tested the speed soft I thought the numbers were pretty darn impressive. However after now testing the vice line, the Snell line, the wright in Ditson, etc, the numbers no longer look as good as they were. Sometimes that happens.
Found my ball. Off your Top 100 list, I played with the Wilson Zip, Got Sum, Srixon Soft and Precept Laddie X. No contest. With my 75 swing speed, the Laddie was unreal. My usual drives are about 170. Hit several straight, about 220 + and all well above my average. My partners couldn't believe it. The ball sprung off the clubface with all clubs. I was surprised that the Zip and Snell balls seemed like rocks compared to the Laddie. Normally a 24 handicap. Shot 88. Thanks very much!
I like the look, something different and like the B logo on Bridgestone yellow balls I play I can easily identify my ball from the others in the fairway or in the junk.
I am really surprised so many people like the design of this golf ball. I think it's awesome. I just thought the response would be more traditional. I'm glad to see I was wrong
The price is pretty good, I'd try them when I run out of my other 5 dozen balls. That ink version is horrendous, it bothers me just to see it on the screen.
Love the content - would be great to see you get a guest host and do some REVA and KALEA and other gballs designed for ladies swings. I know my wife loves the Callaway Reva.
This is actually really good timing for this comment. I have been collecting the whole lineup of women's balls for a while now. They will be reviewed by both my mother and i.
Saw these in the pro shop. Had to get me a sleeve to try. They don't stand out as much as you think on the course. Loved the performance overall, it suited my swing speed and gave me more distance than I'm used to. I have a few dozen balls to lose before I consider these, but there is also the Callaway Speedsoft and the Wilson Duosoft to consider.
I took delivery of these recently. I gotta say I love them. Taylormade hit a bullseye on these speed soft balls. Mr Golf Ball Addict how would you say these compare to Callaway Supersofts? Just curious on your opinion. Thanks. Joe
I love what TaylorMade has done with this ball. Definitely a step on the right direction. As far as the comparison to the super soft. I definitely like the speed soft better. Callaway has some really cool designs with the super soft, but as far as feel and performance the speed soft is so much better
@@GolfBallAddict Thank you so much. I did play with the supersofts the last couple of years. The Callaway supersofts have come a long way over the years. Improved a lot. I like them but I have been playing with the Speed Softs for the last couple of weeks and like them better. So we have the same opinion. I am really surprised Taylormade is making such a good ball for 25 per dozen. I am thinking the price is average for a two piece but then.....when you add in the performance and quality of the ball I am happy to pay 25.
LOVE this review!! I have watched pretty much every video of yours, and it has helped me decide which ball(s) to use. Being an 85 MPH swinger, I will be using this ball as my 2 piece ball. Currently I game the QStar Tour 3 piece. Will be curious as to how these 2 compare. BTWm I hate the ink garbage on these, so will just be geting the white ones.
Thank you very much for your feedback and the kind words. I would love to do a comparison of those two golf balls as well. Granted I think the q star we'll test better for spin but I don't know about distance and forgiveness. Is an interesting comparison
I've been using this and find it a fantastic ball - the busy look doesnt bother me in the slightest but I do find myself changing colours just for fun lol
I'm actually really impressed and glad with all the positive feedback I've received from the design. Most the time I have people tell me they can't stand when any type of design is on a golf ball. Maybe a lot of conservative old school guys. I love that the new design is getting a bunch of love. Thanks so much for your feedback and for watching! :-)
@@GolfBallAddict Im 51 and I ONLY use balls with designs on the ball. Ive been using Chromesoft Truvis, which I do love, but are just too costly. So, when I saw these, I had to try and I was impressed. It's my new ball. I do have the same problem that you mentioned with the putting though. The extra lines interfere with the alignment
That's awesome. There have been plenty of people who have shared their positive feedback. It seems like most people love the golf ball and I've yet to find anyone who doesn't
No I didn't I'm sorry. Honestly it's not something I thought about but off the top of my head I think it would be pink. I know that's not everyone's top color but these golf balls look like camouflage
Hi Been searching for a ball to use for next year as I am low on my stock of balls. Turned 80 a couple of years ago and have played Vice Tour for the last 10 years and after test playing the 2023 version against The Speedsoft today with each ball played for 9 holes to help make a decision re change. I found it hard to differentiate between the two so am going to play the Speedsoft for the next 3 months and see if an extended trial warrants a more permanent change. Thanks for your reviews which also led to to play and exclude the Callaway Supersoft and the TaylorMade Distance plus Great Channel 😎👍🏌️
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. As you continue to use the speed soft let me know how you like it. I received nothing but positive feedback so far from the community about the ball. Seems like it's a total win but I definitely want to hear what you have to say after a few months
