@@volllollpsxd5978 ornn has 5 and faker has 4 world skins (Ryze, Zed, Syndra, upcoming worlds skin) plus this Ahri skin. They would have the same ammount no?
Not just league at this point. There are non gamers that know of Faker. My sister who is a Kpop stan knows of Faker because one of her favorite artist is a fan of Faker. Faker redefined what it truly was to be a pro player in a game.
Made it even better tbh. It's one thing for the champ that taught yoy how to play as your first worlds win... ITS ANOTHER FOR WHEN YOU ARE THE FIRST INDUCTEE INTO THE HALL OF FAME
@@seph123 actually he didn't choose ahri because he wanted a skin for another champion. because when Faker won and people said, "you gonna choose Ahri right?" and he just said, "nah. i'll just pick her next time I win." It's Worlds and he already talking about his next skin like already won it.
Skyen talking about gameplay clarity is so funny to me. Riot has forgotten about that shit so long ago. Gameplay clarity only matters if your champion isnt popular Skyen. RIP Pentakill 3 Yorick hat
In terms of environmental storytelling, at 1:03-1:04 in the trailer on the podium that Azir stands on, we can see Azir (right) dashing towards a falling Varus (left) which is a reference to Faker's play where he caught Ruler in the Worlds 2023 semi-final against JDG.
maybe the black and white theme for the first part of ahri is like how T1's uniform in the past was more white, and now its more red and black symbolising Fakers journey? idk im just rambling
i think you're right, cuz last year T1's jersey are more on black and gold with red accents during worlds 2023 and at worlds 2022 they wore mostly black with gold accents the only red in them was the Jordan 1 shoes
Another thing to note about the greek collums and the pantheon look-alike stuff, is that I wish they would've picked something korean yk. Because the whole point of the skin is to comemorate him, so it would be nice to see instead, a korean palace, temple, traditional housing and what not. Maybe Ahri could've been wearing a hanbok too
I’d be a bit surprised if the disc thing is a part of the in-game model. Seems like it’d clash a bit with Ahri’s movement, which is kinda the flashiest thing about her.
Faker has the personality, legacy, and storyline that wouldn't be out of place in some kind of anime Edit: Also the color change evolutions would have been super cool if they kinda followed the changes to the T1 outfit colors over time.
highly recommend following lck, i used to be in the same boat and went into my arc of only following worlds but the lck production level is mindblowing. im also very fond of faker and his t1 roster is endearing and fun.
Maybe the different forms happen when you rank up her ult? Like a cosmetic version of Kayle’s passive? So in terms of this video it’d be: Level 1: Mostly white Level 6: Switch to Black and add sleeves Level 11: Tail has a face and add more gold Level 16: full Karma with the floating disc and the glowing hydra tails. My theory, anyway. Thanks for the content as always, Skyen. Hope you’re doing well! Also I will buy this skin on day 1 if the single fox head tail actually just kind of hovers beside her and actively looks where she’s looking when she’s idle. We will have reached peak internet thirst. Hot fox-lady spellcaster whose butt is her familiar.
According to leaks( so take it with a grain of salt), there are two versions of the skin, and skin spotlights datamined an item called "augmenter" or something like that. According to the leaks, that item could be use in a similar way to Wild rift, in which you grind the pass to unlock the "second" version of the skin. But idk
I wish it was more of an East-West fusion for the Architecture of the Hall of Fame. Just to honor that Faker is a Korean Player. Just like how they incorporate cultural elements of the country that hosts international tournaments in their teasers, graphics and branding.
The skins are cool and all. But my biggest issue is that they have nothing that remind me of Faker himself. The skin aesthetics kinda overlap with Arcanas 's style. The mask in the orblis something but I dont see It as a nod to Faker, more than something you feel that goes cool with the aesthetics The tails are fucking sick, but due to the color they reminds me a whole los to Naafi and makes me think of Darkins, as if she is being corrupted by much like Kayn base forma that is not completely absorben, but clearly infected. I think that It might be cheese, but a detail as simple as giving her round glasses, and some design changes to make them fit better, would have help a lot to see and feel something that honores Faker's legacy. All and all a cool skin, but for me mieses the part of playing tribute to Faker and could have been announced as a part of a new skin línea and It would. Have done much difference.
I started watching pro league around the same time you did, and I also tapered off to a casual Worlds and MSI only kind of viewer. That is a long ass time haha, and it's incredible that he's still in the conversation all these years later. He was so young at his debut, so it really feels like we really watched him grow up on stage. I'll always root for him to win.
The fact the colors of the ahri skin in the first form resembles that of the sentinels of light makes me wonder if she would fit as a sentinel considering her tribe has history with the blessed iles according to the ruined game game lore
As a representation of Faker this feels kinda ??? to me? this feels exactly like a skin riot would make of their own volition completely disconnected to Faker, they're always raring to shill more Ahri skins, and here she does look like a Genshin Impact character, which works, but it kinda *just* works. If you told me this was Coven Ahri, I would be like "thats a lot of gold for a Coven skin but maybe its prestige or riot has lost their last braincell." The skin, as you said, is effectively a trophy, and doesn't owe us a particular lack of blandness, but this maybe goes a little far even for that? I do like how the Cerberus motif plays into the demon thing. Looking at the sort of champions who already have esports skins, either from T1 or somebody else, a lot of Faker's picks above Ahri and Leblanc in pickrate are already well represented, and he personally already has skins representing him playing Ryze and Zed and a different T1 player playing Azir as well as a generic Worlds skins for Azir and Leblanc. It makes sense to spread his skins around and not just stack them on the same champion so the Ahri pick makes sense. I would say give Orianna a skin maybe, but Ahri recently got that swanky visual update and hers was always going to make a better eye candy flex of a skin, so. I'll chock it up to "not my cup of tea", I'm too gay for Ahri and thats a lot of the point of the character. In terms of Ahri skins I still prefer Arcana and Spirit Blossom to this. Whatever insane VFX riot gives it has a *chance* of changing my mind but I'm not a fan of sparkles that clutter up my screen and make it hard to play the game.
I feel like it's an arcana/mythmaker skin happened to be associated with Faker. League has so many skin lines that eventually there will be overlapping theme
faker still basically doesn’t use skins lol the most recent time he did was during a for fun tournament hosted by redbull just because he and his teammates used all T1 themed skins (of which he used Easyhoon’s, not even his own LMAO)
I think the transformation will be a simple "level ur ult" thing. no head fox tail is pre level 6, level 6 is until 0:43 of the trailer, level 11 is from there until ahri jumps and 16 is after she lands from super sayann
honestly i kinda wish they took a middle route long ago having Skins based solely on the brand of a team is neat... for a few minutes, until you realize that skin's whole Novelty is the brand, there are a few that are just generically cool. but the majority are just as novel as the team's brand is. i think what should have been done. is Each Player on the team (5) gets to pick a champ, and spitball an idea for an "Idealized" or "Perfected" version of that Champ. not another UA. not a Gimmick or a theme. but a honest opinionated Conclusion of that Champ. Ahri with Fox Heads for Tails? awesome, it gives the idea of Vastaya Royalty or Divinity. no longer merely having Traits of the Animal, Being Humanoid First, Animal Second. now the Animal Features are more Grand, it gives the idea that whatever makes a Vastaya different from a Human, has grown and is manifesting more boldly, Leaking out of her Humanoid form in anyway it can.
I was knew if Faker take Ahri skin for T1 she will remembered for the part of T1 legacy of Faker, instead my guy take her for himself and make her his wife. Now Ahri ownership belong to Faker lmao
One thing I will push back against, early on riot had nothing to do with pushing faker, it was OGN and their casters. OGN ran Korea before lck as a third party tournament organizer and was much better about establishing narratives and nicknames like demon king and making custom intros between seasons and splits. Riot did not make or push him and develop his narrative, they took it from OGN and since taking over lck they’ve failed to do the same for other players like chovy and deft leaving faker alone at the top because the company that could have told other players stories the same way was taken off the product. And we all know how poorly riot has been with continuing stories.
Faker choose Ahri cuz he wanted to give her a championship skin and when he has the chance to do it everyone starts complaining cuz "It shouldn't have been Ahri, she has too many skins nooo why Riot"
I dont want to play league due to the unpleasant player base, (which i have seen be unpleasant) BUT. I do really enjoy the character designs, a large amount of stories, and of course Arcane. So despite not really caring about the game itself, I find your videos about it that pop up from time to time here to be very plesant to listen to. I found your content trough HH, but ultimately care much more about your style of commentary than the content itself. Though, if theres anything i would suggest, it would be the Lackadaisy pilot. If you haven't watched it yet of course! The animation is absolutely insane and knocks any other indie youtube animation out of the park. That is to say, although indie animation here on youtube is absolutely insane, lackadaisy is somehow even better. Completely consistently smooth as butter even when not necessary. My animation fanatic adhd brain still crumbles whenever i see it. Hope you eventually see it too, and if you already have, hopefully some sort of commentary someday? 👀 All that to say: good video! Really liked it.
hey are you planing to do a video on the League ingame evnent about Ornn and the new champ Aurora? i feel like you could really gush about it for hours :3
I am a pretty casual pro league fan but I’m really missing why this was an Ahri skin outside of sales figures. If you wanted to immortalize faker wouldn’t it make more sense to do Azir or Leblanc or something?
About him not using any skins: I think riot actually likes it because this way they can say „Skins don’t give you any gameplay advantage whatsoever. Look at the best player we have who doesn’t use them!“ so they can justify using skins in a competitive setting
Is there supposed to be an implication that a Demon King Ahri stole and conquered the spirit of Ionia itself, metaphorically represented by stealing Karma’s disc? That’s what it read like to me for some reason
I remember his debut in OGN Champion. It was against Blaze, which was hyped as the best team in the world at that point and Faker just got a solo-kill in lane, in his debut. It was clear from the first minute that Fakerwas YEARS ahead of the game at that point.
Welp, over the years, T1 has experimented with different color combinations and designs, but red and white have been constants in their visual identity. I guess that's why the first Ahri that we see in the video wears mainly white, as we used to see when SKT T1 was active. 2018: T1 changed their uniforms with white and black, no red to be seen, maybe to show their cleaness in their plays with white. 2019: T1 keeps the black predominancy, with white details and their logo still red-winged. 2020: HERE'S where they start looking similar to nowadays. Remember that is in late 2020 when Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi and Keria joined Faker. T1 adopted black as their main colour, they take white away and show red details. These colors in their uniforms expressed their new playstyle. Remember that SKT T1, as many teams on those years, tended to play slow, waiting for late to destroy others. Since meta has changed, matches are faster than before, SKT was obligated to change as well, so they've adopted a new agressive playstyle. That's why they let white go and accept more black to show more agressiveness, more rudeness and that they still were able to compete and represent a threat to others. 2021: Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi, Keria and Faker are the main roster of T1. Black remains being the principal color, but white appears too, shyly, not too much. Maybe to express that they didn't change at all. They keep using knowledge, experience and strategy to win their matches. In fact, we've started to see a new color: GOLDEN. Golden can express experience, knowledge, victory, superiority and pride. 2022: black keeps being the main color, with red details. These colors can represent lethality, rudeness, dominance, no mercy. They don't need white to show they're still using strategy to win, because it's shown in their names. Their strategy is part of themselves and it's already known. 2023: pretty much the same as 2022, but they allow a little bit of white to be shown in some details. Uniforms still being primarily black. Red is not shown at all but in their logo. Btw, in some varieties of their uniforms, we can see some golden in them. 2024: black as their main color, but now we can see more details of red. This combination, at least since they've first started wearing them, reminds me of a whole threat, deadly, almost evil, wearing all black, and red as blood stains on top. As to show others that defying them means you're not gonna end without open wounds. This is to say thay Riot didn't decided to use those 3 colors, black, red, white and golden, without reason. In fact, as a T1 fan for so many years, it was super normal to me to see them in this video. Btw, I get what you say about overusing golden to show greatness in skins. But I guess it's okay if we're speaking about Faker, his colors with T1, and his legacy.
Maybe I overhyped it, but I'm kinda underwhelmed by both the trailers and the skins. The Ahri and Leblanc skins do kinda look like gacha characters lol. To be fair, we haven't seen them in-game yet, so I guess I should hold off on fully judging them until then.
Being honest, I don't like the fox-heads on the ends of Ahri's tails here. It feels too eldritch horror for a skin that's supposed to commemorate one of the best players of all time.
