I recently did a 20% TCA peel at home and the results surprised me. Here I'll share day by day updates, before & after photos and my current results as of day 12. MORE⤵
COUPON & WHERE I BOUGHT IT⤵
I purchased this 20% TCA peel from Platinum Skincare. They also sell lower strength TCA Peels as well as a 30% TCA for use on the body, in addition to other skincare products & peels that I hope to try in the future.
Platinum Skincare: www.platinumskincare.com?afmc=holly10.
Full disclaimer is below. Here I just want to give a personal note: Please be extremely careful if you are considering doing a TCA peel at home. Do extensive research. It is also never recommended to start out with anything but the lowest peel available. Whatever you do is at your own risk. Most people do not do TCA peels unless they have worked their way up from lower strength peels - like Glycolic peels. But, Platinum Skincare does sell a lower strength TCA peel starting at 7%.
RESOURCES & EXTRA INFO ON SAFELY DOING PEELS⤵

12 days is no where near long enough for your skin to settle down, replace collagen and heal sufficiently. More like 6 wks minimum. I'm a man who's tried this several times, admittedly at higher percentages and had a lot of advice but the experts recommend you leave your skin for at least 6 wks before another peel. At this moment I am using 100% TCA for my rolling acne scarring. 80% just doesn't cut it. It's the 7th day and I still look like I've fallen face down into a camp fire! Oh well too late now. Thanks for your experience and uploads Holly.

Where are you buying 100 percent TCA?
@Chewligan1
@Chewligan1 Месяц назад
@@maureengreen8695 ebay in catagory 'health + beauty' type '10% to' you'll find '10% to 100% Peel' and choose your TCA strength. Comes from India and takes about 10 days. 100% is very powerful. I only used blunt tooth pick to target the recesses ONLY. It will frost the skin almost straight away then stings for about a minute. Wait 5 mins then wash immediately. I suggest test on 1 recess ONLY at first.

When I hit my 40s I noticed this less dramatic result to things like dermal needling and TCA peels as well, in fact so much so that I stopped using TCA completely. However I did then start HRT (Body Identical) and I did notice that my results from dermal needling really improved after doing this. I did a cycle of medical needlings over the winter period and I think as you get older it does take a bit longer to see the results really come through as opposed to the almost instant results you get when you are younger. I am intending to do some TCA peels again this year and so will be interested in how my skin reacts at this age. Thanks for this video!

Thank you so much for sharing this! That's so helpful. I am really happy to hear that the HRT is helping. I am doing some research on that. I did the DUTCH complete test recently so I know how my hormones are doing. You are right on about the instant results when younger vs when you get older. :)

Hey you look amazing. I need a skin like that lol. What can you suggest for hollow eyes and overall skin glass looking face like yours? Would the TCA peel help with hollowness around the eyes?
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 2 месяца назад
Wow, thank you! :) For glass shiny smooth skin - you should definitely use some acids in your skincare. Good Molecules has a glycolic toner and that in itself really makes my skin smoother and look better, plus it helps reduce the appearance pores around my nose. Another good option is the Andalou Naturals pumpkin enzyme mask - it is so brightening and leaves your skin silky smooth. Any other acid products can do that (30-50% glycolic acid, lactic acid, etc.). Nano needling or microneedling can also really improve the skin's appearance. Dealing with hallow under eyes is really tough as it depends on so many factors. I'll need to think about this a bit. I don't really think TCA will help with hallowness, unfortunately. I went to a plastic surgeon a couple years ago for a skin cancer surgery scar issue and they actually had a procedure to remove your plasma from your blood, then inject it into the under eye hallows. It's quite painful but the girl who was helping me said it really helped her hallows.

Thank you! I am checking it out now and it looks really nice. I was using some other Korean skincare treatments (by EasyDew) and I thought they were pretty soothing, but maybe the active ingredients were a bit too strong for my skin as it's healing.

I stopped doing TCA peels because of the downtime. I didn't feel it was ultimately worth it for me. I much prefer mandelic and glycolic peels!
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 месяца назад
Yes, I completely understand that! The downtime is not fun. It would be better if you lived with someone or had a close friend doing it at the same time - then you guys can share the downtime together. I really should have done it in the winter too, since we have little sunlight then. I think you can definitely get great results with other peels over time!
@KayleighJeanTarot
@KayleighJeanTarot 3 месяца назад
Great video, thank you Holly! I did TCA a few times from Platinum and got good results but I too just felt like the downtime wasn't worth it. One time I had a gasline issue which necessitated two separate professional teams to come to my home on short notice, and I was the only one able to receive them, show them around, answer questions, etc, and it was on the worst possible day my skin was peeling off in huge chunks and snakelike and horrible and I just felt so awkward. That was the last time I did that, haha. Since then I do 2 layers of glycolic peels regularly and I do notice a difference when I am consistent with them. I was going to also do microneedling regularly this year (part of my resolution) and I did one session again after a year or two break, but then I was reading that some people experienced volume loss from microneedling and it spooked me, because I really want to increase facial fat volume in my face, not lose more of it. Did you ever experience any volume loss from microneedling? Do you think it's possible?
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 месяца назад
Kayleigh, I totally understand what you're saying about the down time and I would really not want to see anyone when the peeling is happening! I can imagine how awkward that would be! I am really glad you mentioned that you're getting great results from other peels. I was doing the same thing and then took a break to do this. I was going to share my video on my multi-layered peel (that has no downtime) but I had some lighting issues so I need to re-record it. Plus adding in microneedling is a great idea. I have never had any noticeable volume loss from microneedling. I don't think that's normal. But, I do wonder if they had RF+microneedling which heats up the deeper layers of skin. That can put you at risk for volume loss anytime you're using heat treatments on the face. I made this mistake many years ago with a IPL facial and I do believe I had volume loss under my eyes from it. So for me, I just stay away from any treatments that aim to heat up the skin.
@KayleighJeanTarot
@KayleighJeanTarot 3 месяца назад
@@LifeDIY thank you so much! Yeah that makes sense about the RF, that's probably the main driver of it but I was worried if inflammation from microneedling could cause any fat loss, but maybe I will just do lighter depth and be careful because the benefits are definitely there! I do have a newa rf device but I only use it under my chin, it helps tighten the skin there for me, but I never use it on my actual face just in case it does cause fat loss. I don't mind it if that happens under my chin 😅
@KayleighJeanTarot
@KayleighJeanTarot 3 месяца назад
@@LifeDIY By the way, I have some volume loss under my eyes too, and you mentioned your IPL experience in another video and when I saw that I was thinking, but your eyes look great! I am always struck by how healthy and beautiful your face and under-eyes look! You look amazing!
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 месяца назад
Thanks, Kayleigh! That is so sweet of you to say. I think sometimes the lighting makes up for it so you might not see the under eye hallows as much. But, thank you! And, if you're worried about it, you could do a treatment of 0.5 mm or even 0.25 mm and still get some really nice results! That's so interesting about the RF under the chin. I hope you get great results!

Microneedling is amazing! RF microneedling is probably what you’re thinking about. That one is where you can lose facial fat in the wrong hands. But regular microneedling is 10/10 😊

Wow you dont look 41! Your so beautiful! How often do you do these peels?
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY Месяц назад
Thank you. That's too kind of you! I tend to do these once a year, though sometimes less than that. Ideally, if you want the best results, you should do a series of a few of them within a six month period. If that's too much (since there is downtime), you can do one of these, plus other peels like glycolic or salicylic acid, to help maintain your results or improve things even more over time. In this video, I didn't have the most profound results and I think it was because I didn't prep my skin very well beforehand. In the past I would use tretinoin a couple times and I would stop it about a week before doing the TCA peel. This led to a deeper and more even peel. For anyone who doesn't have tretinoin (as it's a prescription), the Paula's Choice retinol cream (for me) is just as strong as a low strength tretinoin. Hope this helps!

It might be that your skin becomes more resistant to the acid over time. Bodies always adjust to any type of stimulus, be it diet, training or skincare. So the first few times it does a deeper peel and takes off more layers of the skin. Over time it will most likely penetrate less and take only the surface level. That is not to say that the deeper layers were not affected but your skin may be resistant enough to not full on peel as deeply. The lower layers might need more time to "light peel" off - sort of similar to glycolic acid. You may also consider alternating the acids that you use perhaps use a different brand or slightly alter the formula so your skin gets new stimulus that it's less resistant to. Alternatively it might have just been too soon to execute another TCA peel again. Perhaps your skin was healthy enough. But I'm just theorizing, I probably literally have no clue what I'm talking about.
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 месяца назад
Wow, this is such a good point. I think you're onto something. Even though my face appeared to have frosted quite a lot, I didn't peel for very long this time and it was all done very quickly. So maybe it didn't impact my skin as much, like you said, plus I do think the healing process takes some time. I think prepping the skin helps and I also don't like to do multiple layers (due to pain and excess exposure to the agents), so maybe next time I can try something else or do one a little bit stronger. I appreciate your theories! :) Thank you.

I love TCA peels but only if I used tret with them to speed up the process. I do feel like I need to space them and I have to be careful not to overstimulate my immune system so not when I’m sick or super down or have a spot of redness on my skin. However my holy grail are at home test peels which get rid of spots within 3-5 days. Like a whole spot the size of a pencil eraser peeled off. 3 weeks later I do another one and it’s over 95% gone. Typically this would take 3 or 4 TCA peels

Yeah I think you are right that I didn't do a strong enough peel (more than the age issue). :) I think the reason the other peel was better was due to using tretinoin a few times, a few weeks before and stopping it 5-7 days prior to doing the peel. It makes the peel so much stronger.
