I have never before heard such committed playing and conducting in Tchaikovsky’s 5th. The emotional impact is almost overwhelming. A truly great performance.
@@ИгорьЖданов-й3щI followed your advice and went to Mravinsky. I’m forever grateful…. Unbelievably passionate and deep of his conducting. I was in tears. Thank you!!!
Ive played this piece with an orchestra before as a cellist and let me tell you the pure euphoric thrill and adrenaline that rushes throughout the orchestra and throughout your body while playing is just out of this world. Another honorable mention of course to the cello moments in the second movement.
I. 2:38 Andante - Allegro con anima - Molto più tranquillo II. 18:34 Andante cantabile, con alcuna licenza - Non allegro - Andante maestoso con piano III. 32:29 Valse: Allegro moderato IV. 39:11 Finale: Andante maestoso - Allegro vivace - Molto vivace - Moderato assai e molto maestoso - Presto
This was the first full symphony that I ever played in my State youth orchestra in Germany. I had the pleasure of playing under Michael wendeberg, a truly great conductor and pianist, and also will be playing Schist 9 and Rachmaninov 2nd Piano concerto this year under and with him. I hold this piece very dearly in my heart because it really solidified my dream of becoming a professional musician and would ya know it, now I'm studying double bass at university and recently played in orchestral academy under Vilmantas Kaliunas (Who btw you should invite to Concertgebouworkest, Vilmantas is fucking sick and also an awesome person). Bychkov is also truly one of the greatest conductors of our time, conducting one of the greatest symphonies ever, conducting one of the greatest orchestras ever. truly a remarkable video
As someone for whom attending a concert in the Concertgebouw was always an impossible dream, I feel extraordinarily privileged to be able to watch and hear this fabulous orchestra in its own home. Bychkov is a great choice to conduct Tchaikovsky.
Just because the Concertgebouw was voted #1 many years ago by Gramophone Magazine , that does not make it the best then or now. I have heard the orchestra twice, and while the first performance in 2017 was great, the second in 2018 was mediocre.
One wonders if this superbly performed concert by Concertgebouworkest under the direction of the amazing Semyon Buchkov is not the single best rendition available on the Internet, and also the fantastic performance of the musicians was beyond belief, and again I wonder if it is because they are relaxed and so superbly talented they were playing only for their determination to rise into the stratosphere of magnificence and not to please an audience. Bravo X 1000!
I love the spacing of the orchestra. I know its for COVID but it really makes the individual section SHINE out!!!!! And you can really see the soloists. The conducting is WONDERFUL too.
Also, we did this type of recorded concert during COVID and it does make an impact. .. i suppose the fact that currently it's one of the top orchestras in the world kind of matters.. a bit
Wow! strong and melodious. One of the best Tch-5 in my life. Because of o audience or longer distance among players, echo is also long which I really like it.
As much as I love classical music my education is limited, so this is the first time I've listened to this symphony and I have to say how deeply moving I find this piece. What a gorgeous performance done only a few months after COVID brought the world to a halt. I imagine many have turned to RU-vid and are as delighted as I am by the offerings. The production quality of this performance is wonderful. And so my education continues. Thanks for this lovely offering.
This is my favorite recording of Tchaikovsky 5 now. There is something so heavy about the amazing resonance this recording has in an almost completely empty concert hall due to covid. Not a lot of orchestras in Canada (or in general) have venues that can accommodate a full orchestra distanced like this. Very inspiring. P.S. Pardon my bias but the Brass and Double Basses sound F****** Amazing!
Já escutei diversas versões de todas as sinfonias de Tchaikovsky. Hoje tenho as seis dirigidas por Semyon Bychkov . Na minha opinião é o melhor dirigente destas obras.
The sound, the transparency, the phrasing, the full emotional impact and beauty of Tchaikovski's 5th, thanks to the magical combination of Bychkov and the Concertgebouw Orkest!! What a present!!!
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Mason Rhys i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I am shocked by the depth and beauty of this performance. Semyon Bychkov and the Concertgebouworkest are creating overwhelming magic here. Thank you for the beauty and healing you bring into the world by breathing live into this music in a way I never heard before.
Brilliant music by one of the great masters of orchestral writing and a stirring performance by one of the best orchestras in the world…. Thank you for making this available on this platform.
i am so glad there were a few people in the balcony to witness that magnificant performance of one of the great symphonies in the repertoire. i think the ending of the 4th movement--and we all know how talented p,i.t. was in finishing his works--is one of, if not the, most magnificant.
Qué manera de captar la esencia y el espíritu de Tchaikovsky; es un verdadero ágape espiritual escuchar esta espléndida versión del inigualable Maestro Bychkov. ¡Gracias, Maestro!.
Excellent performance by a great orchestra led by a great conductor! The Concertgebouw, of course, has a long-standing, well-deserved reputation for excellence. However, the real eye-opener here is Maestro Bychkov who seems unafraid to be completely immersed, heart and soul, into the music. Bravo Tutti!
Bravo - a beautiful performance under a difficult situation. Here in New Zealand, under Level 1 Covid 19, last night, the NZSO and guests held their first public performance with a full audience gathered ! A promising step towards normality.
Thank you all for a really moving symphonic performance. In the midst of this current COVID nightmare a real concert reassures that excellent music like this is far more permanent than any pandemic. Great to see that in general social distancing is being respected but I was a bit anxious about the players of string instruments being so close to one another.
Gran Concertgebouworkes y gran Semyon Bichkov dirigiendo. BRAVO. Mi agradecimiento.
If without a pandemic turning pages can be a bit messy, don't know how it feels for all fellow players to be inside players. Props to the Concertgebouworkest not only for the great performance, but also for their page-turning technique :)
listened to this symphony often as a teenager plagued by weltschmerz...and it still depresses me, but that's the right music to get drunk on a lonesome saturday night
Wonderful performance of a legitimate masterpiece. Second movement: Yep. That is how you play the French horn. Seems easy, doesn't it? 😁 I was privileged to sit in the front row when the Concertbebouworkest came to Hartford, Conn. a few years back under Maestro Chailly. They did the Brahms Double and Brahms 1, and it was the kind of concert you wished would never end. One of the greatest bands in the world. The quality of their playing is consistently at an astoundingly high level.
I first started to appreciate Tchaikovsky symphonies after hearing one movement of his symphony no. 6 played in the movie 'Now, Voyager'. Symphony no. 5 makes an excellent counterpart to his sixth. And always look to the Amsterdam Concertgebouw for a wonderful performance in every way.
@@brianlemaire4221 . . . the 4th movement of Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony is (IMHO) one of the most powerful in all symphony. Tchaikovsky is lampooned by some "experts" as not a "serious" composer, but his music is extraordinary. You probably know his Piano Concerto #1, the greatest (at a minimum the most popular) of all piano concertos--trult a stunning showpiece. His Violin Concerto is much the same.
Roerend om na hierdie emosionele weergawe te luister, met goeie klank en beeld. Ons sou drie konserte in die Concertgebouw bygewoon het in 2020, maar, nouja... Dalk gebeur die onwaarskynlike tog.
One person recognized by Karajan. During the stage performance, he maintains the pride of a true conductor, refusing to retreat from practicing complete memorization conducting.
thankyou Tchaikovsky i love the bit in the first movement, about six minutes fifty/ fifty one.. gorgeous strings and the flute.. (lol i realise i could go through the whole thing like that) the bit starting at eight minutes twenty.. 🙂 x thankyou for sharing this second movement, after the horn and the clarinet, the oboe..
The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness. It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much. I would be on my blanket sipping wine and enjoying a sky full of stars at Tanglewood. This performance brought a semblance of normalcy into my life. Bravo!
