As a kid, my mom was a dance teacher. Her best friend (and the mother of my childhood best friend) was a professional ballerina. So almost every year when I was a child, we would go and watch her dance in the nutcracker. So many good memories hearing this music again

My aunt was very close with the director of rhe Russian Ballet company, I was blessed every year as a child to go see the nutcracker and see backstage. The ballerinas all looked like princesses and were so graceful and the music, no one really compares to Tchaikovsky even though I adore many other classical composers he still remains one of my favorites.

Very well done, and very much appreciated. But why is the English Dance out of order on this recording? It's part of the "Entertainment" dance recital, and it belongs with the other five Dances. Why end the Nutcracker ballet with this little piece, when the Apotheosis is so right? It's kind of a bridge, I suppose, to La Sylphide, but no orchestra plays non-stop for over two hours. Ideas, anyone?

I never had the chance to actually “ dance “ . My mom took lots of classes ( as a kid I remember her taking me for a few lessons, but I was never really into it … ) she finally got her certification as a dance instructor years later. It’s so fun watching people dance. Watching my mom dance was so fun. She only teaches as needed , and does “ private “ lessons. Hearing this music makes me feel like a kid again.

Summers 1960's & 70s, the NYC ballet would practice The Nutcracker Suite Christmas production at Saratoga performing arts center -it was dirt cheap or free for lawn seats, we'd go in the summer and have picnics... (Also Swan Lake, Peter and the Wolf) And when I was older, of course went to the holiday productions in Boston and New York... But running around barefoot in the summer fantasizing about Christmas was something special! When a lot of my friends went to Disney world. They can have it! The Nutcracker Suite is one of the most magical aspects to Christmas I also play/played the violin! And I happen to be staring at a nutcracker right now! Wonderful memories - I hope you have many more. Happy holidays!

My city did the nutcracker ballet but with figure skating and listening to this album gives me bittersweet memories. I started when I was five and preformed for almost 10 years so the nutcracker was a very big staple in my family’s Christmas traditions, and I really do miss it a lot. Just listening to the soundtrack gives me fond memories on the ice and of my last performance with the nutcracker, and that feeling that Christmas was just around the corner after the show was over. Hopefully this year I can go back and see it once again. Hope y’all have a great holiday season this year! ☺️ Edit: I got to see it again with a friend and it was just as amazing as I remembered it!!!! 😊

Hey - you're a ballerina... I was on a walker 4 years ago because of a neurological disorder - Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I could stand up and dance again... I could never find my center of balance. I didn't give up... I started challenging myself. There was a guy with multiple sclerosis and he started working out like crazy - I did the same and I started getting my body back. This Husky Malamute that tripped in my life, started dragging me around, I couldn't use a cane and keep up with him - but he pulled me! And if I fell down? He comes back, stands next to me and I push myself up between using his shoulder blades. And I got a cheapo used kayak, just paddled around while the dog barked at me on shore I started getting upper body strength back, it started working it's way down my abdomen. Then I got myself a cheap four-wheeler, fixed it up using RU-vid videos, run my Malamute, and you got to stand up a lot to see the trails... great exercise going up and down on that four-wheeler, balancing with the handlebars ... I started getting my thighs and core back? Fast forward over 4 years... less than 48 hours ago I just had a ballet barre installed.... It's helping me develop coordination, my muscles are popping like crazy just going through the five positions I can barely lean against it and put both of my arms up in the air - I'm straight again! and the more you practice like a ballerina, the more you'll look like one over time... It stretches us out Sometimes they call it "Pilates" now Haha! But the secret of having my own ballet barre? I'm not in a room full of abled-bodied people - so I'm not "disabled," and I'm the prettiest most talented ballerina in the room! So are you! In the Nutcracker Suite - if you're genetically shorter perhaps, you could play the starting role - Clara!
