This was the first song I sent to the man I fell inlove with. He told me how he loved it and yet the song sounded so sad. Today I'm listening to it once more a little before his funeral. It's a semblance of our time together. Bittersweet.

@@loisabourdarias5970 If you prioritize the differences of men and women over the unification of man and woman, then you are predisposing yourself to dissatisfaction and ideological division between yourself and the other sex. My statements were not from a place of hate, but rather of truth. Not all men are worthy of reverence as not all women are worthy of affection because there are truths and virtues above mere existence. I am not concerned with the failings of character or the changing desires of other men and women which are hedonists/physicalists because they take themselves to the logical ends of their own world views. I care of my own and my family’s well-being in body and spirit. I recommend the same to any person.

I was immediately touched by this piece, and did some research on its history. It was dedicated to Emma Genton, governess to a family he often visited. She was infatuated with him and wrote him roughly 200 letters; he was friendly with her but didn’t share her affections. The mixed emotions are very palpable-love with a hint of sadness.

It feels like depression. Occasional, fleeting moments of upbeat melodies feel more like episodes of painfully self-aware mania among a constant bedrock of fear, and pain. From start to finish the song feels like a lifelong death throw. A beautiful dance of madness.

Whenever I listen to this, all I can picture is a beautifully haunting dance shared between two young people in love, who know their love is forbidden and so they only have this moment, on the dance floor, in a span of minutes, to imagine what could be between them. Once the dance is over, so is their love story, for this is the only moment they are allowed to even look at one another. As such, their dance becomes so much more than just a series of movements, it becomes like a silently expressed love story between the two of them.

I don't think "sad" would be the word for this. Melancholy perhaps, but more like nostalgic or wistful. But if course the beauty of art and music in particular is that it is whatever you see or hear it as. If it makes you feel sad, that is legitimate. If it makes you think of longing or passion, you aren't wrong. Don't listen to experts who want to define everything like it is science.

Many comments on love whether it is a toxic relationship, unrequited love or the yearning for a now long dead spouse. Are we just projecting? Or is the music helping us find beauty in our suffering? Why do we have a common understanding of what this music means? I don't know but it's beautiful.

If you think about this, this music was created by a man who’s went through what he needed to create something as beautiful as this. It’s not us projecting as to what this music makes us feel, but it’s almost like we understand where he’s coming from. He’s human after all. He’s expressing how he feels, and as a collective, we understand him. It’s truly beautiful.
