This is a good video if you have an ultra remote. If you have an Infrared, or IR remote, this video doesn't help. I ordered an IR remote and got it in the mail today. I have the roku app on my smart phone, so using it I turned on my tv. With the home screen displayed, I stood about 3 feet from the TV and pointed the remote at the IR sensor on the tv, and started pushing buttons. It started working. IR remotes don't need to be paired.
@@Meekerextreme Farther down in the comments, yoy told one commenter there was no way to pair an IR remote. This is correct, but you offered the commenter no help in getting the Remote to work. I just commented to help the people on here who have IR remotes like me.
The original remote is a line-of-sight type of remote (IR). No need for setup. But now I want to try using the Roku Ultra remote with my TCL series 6 and see what happens when I use my headset in the headphone jack.
Hey my son have a 50 inch roku tcl he lost his remote his phone can’t connect but it not the same WiFi so if I go buy one of them remote will it work better
FYI: my remote was driving me crazy until I figured out NOT to have my cell phone close to the TV or remote. Once I did that there were no more issues. Go figure.
Yeah, Check Best Buy online for your area and see..go on Amazon's Roku direct site and buy a remote...easy and done. Of course price on the TV at your local store might vary then what I paid due to tax and region of the country so you just have to weigh the cost. Doing a pickup at Best Buy is the way to go, walk in with receipt and ID and at mine they told me to pull up to the door (hate doing this as it blocks the isle at mine) and they loaded it up into my truck. The TV is very well packaged. So far my daughter loves it, I like it enough I might really get one for my office to use as an extra Monitor.
I have the same tv, I bought the voice remote, not the one with the headphone jack on the remote..... Paired the remote fine, but I press mic button (hold it down try to say something) it doesn't do any commands.
bought a new roku, I set it up like you did, wireless connection entered wi fi etc paired my remote ....everything worked I unplugged it to move it to the bedroom and now I cant pair it at all the time slot on TV says NO CONNECTION instead of the time ...tried everything and not working . the old roku in family room works fine ,,,,,what do I do?

Can you do me a HUGE Favor and remove the battery cover off the Ultra emote you have and tell be the model # its under the batteries.. Im trying to find the exact one you have that has Mic, Headphone Jack, Power button and work with the TCL 6 series TV.. Thanks
I believe the remote that comes with the 615 is IR. In the video he pairs a RF (wifi) remote to his 615. I was curious about this. Thanks for making the video.
Is it possible to pair two remotes to a series 6 TLC at the same time and have them both control the TV - that way i have remote and so does my wife at the same time that will control the same tv in our bedroom? Would help a bunch when one of us falls asleep with the remote setting on the bedside table. 😀
I don’t have the ultra and I’m trying to pair the standard IR remote. Any ideas? My motherboard messed up and they came to fix it today but left without fixing the remote.
@@Meekerextreme Yes you can get an IR remote to work. With the home screen displayed, stand close to TV and point the remote at the sensor and start pushing buttons. It will start working. That's how I got my replacement to work. IR remotes don't need to be "paired."
@@Meekerextreme When I lost my IR remote, I ordered a replacement like it. A lot of people do this. Since I had no problems with the one that came with the tv. I ordered one exactly like it.
Thank you for that update I never use headphones so didn't think to check it. Guess I need to check and confirm what you said and made an update to the description, thank you. Still though the remote is nicer...sucks that part doesn't work.
Not true, my audio jack works just fine as I just tested it and the icon on the TV will switch from speaker volume to headphone volume which it will remember this was using the Roku headphones with the Roku remote. The voice feature also works for me and so does every button on the remote...LOL I'm not sure if you really tested this or just tossed up a RU-vid bitch post...but please recheck your equipment.
Meeker Extreme For me what mattered most are the other buttons and the voice control working and they most definitely didn’t. Did you test the other buttons and the voice control as well as the aux jack?
No it does not, I got Bluetooth headphones and nope...there is an option to hook to a Roku speaker by way of bluetooth but no way to pair anything outside of Roku speaker.
Thanks for the video. My remote suddenly stopped working today (13Aug18). My unit is ~7 months old, Streaming Stick, remove with the pairing button under the battery cover, (similar to the one you've shown). I made the mistake resetting to factory settings. I since tried pairing the remote to the stick, and no dice. I've turned stick power off/on, and the Roku getting started screen comes on, and asks one to push & hold the pairing button down 3 sec. I do that, but still no dice. The batteries measure ~1.48 volts DC, and are fairly new (changed about a month ago). Don't know what else to do. Have I ruined the thing by doing the factory re-set, and will I have purchase a new one? Any help is appreciated. (I even tried changing the WIFi channel on my router from Auto to 11, then 6, no improvement. Have since restored WIFI channel to Auto, as this worked fine since I've had the unit [Christmas gift]).
