Thanks After setting my Samsung 50QN90B back up I have realised this tv is definitely a great buy. Also the TCL operating system runs smooth compared to the Samsung which is rather sluggish!!!
I also own the Samsung QN90B which i believe has no real difference to the QN90C and the TCL is the one I'd buy. It's far cheaper and provides virtually as good of a picture with very good brightness and the screen has far less of a reflection than the Samsung. The TCL also had far less blooming than the Samsung. Also the android operating system seems a lot smoother and better for apps. The Samsung has better sound but not by much, however the TCL has far more sound settings to adjust.
Got the 55C805 like 1 month ago or so . v happy with this tv overall sick black level and contrast close to oled , v good colors also. Also very important almost no blooming at all or DSE or light bleed on my tv. 5years warranty also for only 560 euro on black friday. Think this tv at this price and performance and features its delivers has no rival at this price point , i hear from some reviewers that it actually beats some tvs that cost 2X more . Only thing i wish this tv had , would be the extra brightness, at least 1500-1700 nits , or 2k would be ideal ^^ The extra brightness ,nits really helps for HDR or DBV. images to pop more .
@@ronanv1 if it was me I would just make sure it can be returned if you change your mind just incase it had too much light bleed but that all depends how fussy you are. These come with a plastic sheet on the screen so once it's off you cannot get it back on!
@@garyreviews tbh it's either this or the Philips The One 43", PUS8808 for reference, but I have to order that into store and I'm not a man with a lot of patience 🤣 I get your point though and I had a bad TCL panel last year which was handled very efficiently by everyone so I'm not worried one bit.
@@ronanv1 I've also got that philips in the 50" version and trust me it comes nowhere close to the TCL. The Philips doesn't have anywhere close to the brightness of the TCL or the HDR performance and its also quite sluggish to use.
Great review Many thanks Gary, just ordered mine, to be compared to a legit oled is just mind boggling... Cant wait to get my hand on the little sucker 🎉 Cheers🍻
I have actually tried a second unit after this one and it had nearly perfect blacks with no light bleed or clouding at all. That's the thing with led tv's,every panel is different.
@@garyreviews this one has the dimming zones that should help, I'd like an OLED but I can't justify the cost, I hardly watch TV, the Kids have taken it over!
@@cedric1138 I would personally stay away from the OLED stuff due to potential screen burns issues and this TCL MINI LED will be brighter than most of them I reckon.
I personally don't pay any attention to recommended picture settings as I'm very fussy and I just tweak them to my liking. I always turn off any motion settings and set the picture to COOL.
What is the refresh rate of this TV when connected to Geforce in PC and setting Windows 11 to 10 bit color and RGB+ HDR color? I saw in menu it is 60Hz when in 10 bit (1 billion colors) and 144Hz in 8 bit (colors suck)
Can you elaborate on that light bleed? Mini-led shouldn't have bleeding at all, since they turn off the zones which are supposed to show dark colors. Were you referring to panel uniformity without local dimming?
@@garyreviews Did you check if local dimming is turned on and on "high" setting? This sounds more like uniformity issues rather than backlight bleed... FALD systems shouldnt have those.
@@garyreviews thanks for that, might go for this set as I'm not sure there's better around for £600. The off centre viewing angle though is critical to me as some of our seating positions are not dead in front.
The tv seemed fine with SD content as did motion handling for movies/sport. I would always recommend buying a tv from a retailer that has an easy return policy incase you are not happy or have issues.
I think you will be very happy, I have a 65" C835 in the living room so I had some idea what to expect from TCL, the C805 is now hooked up in my office to a Series X and Apple TV 4K and after the first few hours appears to be a super job.
@@kabuzu My samsung tv (50qn90b) has a glossy screen,I'm not sure but I think it's specific to samsung tv's. It does give off more reflection from windows which is a slight negative. You will not be disappointed with the TCL,the actual panels on tv's vary so if you get one with any light bleed then return it as my second TCL i tried had none!
@@kabuzu inregards to glossy screens,if you mean ips I'm not a fan and much prefer VA panel. Why not give the TCL75c845k a try due to the extra brightness capabilities. Not sure on the spec of the screen though as I believe some brands change to an IPS screen with their larger screen versions.
@@garyreviews thanks for reply, i just seen other reviews where they say the app doesn't exist and the had to buy a dongle, also tv is advitsed as no iplayer app on say hughes shop. This supprised me as like you say its a google tv.
@@stephentranter6670 it may well not have Iplayer available I can't honestly say either way as I don't use that app. Worst case scenario you could just buy a firestick if you really needed the app that much.
