You're welcome, it's that time of year where a lot of people are interested in the course and the Marathon as a whole. Hope you enjoy! Have a great run!
First time running NYCM very excited!! Great video super helpful thanks for making it !! So is it true you can’t bring a fold up chair to the start area where you have to hangout and wait to start ?
The only reason I'm not 100% sure how they apply the rules is they always allowed my camera and "selfie stick" which is also prohibited. I'm not sure the hired security team always knows the full rules, but since they do catch backpacks I'm thinking chair they will also go by the book.
Running my first NYC Marathon this year and I am super excited! I know that I won't be allowed to use my hydration vest so I have purchased a handheld bottle. I am stressing over water stops and where they are located along the route. I have kidney disease and it is very important for me to stay hydrated! On the website it says that they are located at every mile after mile 3. Is this accurate? Thank you for your time, help and the awesome content!
The NYC Marathon is pretty good in terms of water. It is true there is a water stop that is accessible just about every 1-1.5 miles. The exceptions are some bridges like in the first few miles and the Queens to Manhattan bridge crossing around miles 14-16.
Loved the video and the energy Christian! A bit nervous being in the last wave, but hopefully some still stick around later - looking toasty warm for Sunday! :)
I've seen even a crowd of professional NYC Marathon runners, staff, New Yorkers cheering in the LAST finisher at the finish line. And places like first ave are packed ALL day. I think it will still be very enjoyable! A bit warm for me, but yea a toasty day in the forecast for sure!
I appreciate the info of your video! I have a scheduled bus time to leave the NYC library at 5:30am. Do I have to be there at that time or can I ride a later time? You mentioned you were on the bus by at least 6:30am? Thanks!
I've never had them ask what time I signed up for. Just leave yourself enough time for bus delays, but it's basically show up, wait in line, and hop on. If you go at 6am instead, nobody will stop you in my experience.
Great, I was hoping it would reignite some more excitement for this year and pull forward a course preview for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. It's getting so close!!
My favorite parts are where the crowds sort of collapse in on the runners. It's never really been problematic for me, but in Central park and Lafayette you can really get that tunnel of people right there with you on course. It's pretty fun and unique, although I'm really not sure why the barricades are so loose there lol The hardest is the 59th st. Bridge uphill for me. That's why I think it's so important to know you feel good again after you spend a lot of time coming down the bridge, because if you don't know, the uphill will take the wind out of your sails for sure.
