Good list, but once again I find myself having to explain to my gf what all these new packages are. Me: "They are historical simulations of the greatest conflict in human history. " Her: "Oh fuck off, it's got zombies in it. "
Best advantage of being single, no wife or girlfriend (wish I had one-lol), no body gives me verbal heartache when packages come in. My one adult daughter sometimes gives me some verbal trash but I just tell her this is a game I pre-ordered 6 to 9 months ago so it's already paid for... Got Schutztruppe (Compass) & Invasion Malta (Legion) coming in very real soon. Somehow I became unsubscribed so I resubscribed. 👍👍
Wow 5 out of ten for our first published module. Thanks for this rating! I think you will even be impressed by our upcoming Assault Sicily 43 Gela Beachhead which will be available in 2024.
Great list Cody. I was a little surprised not to see one of: Conflict of Heroes Awakening The Bear, Old School Tactical Vol 1, or Heroes of The Bitter Harvest on there somewhere. Still, a great mix of the new and the old, hex and counter, and "other". :)
Interesting list, thanks. I have played SPI's 1976 'War in the East'. Though they are too heavy really, I am still keen to get 'Jaws of Victory' and 'Stalingrad '42' to the table. I have a better chance with 'Race to Moscow' (definately the most original of your list). Avalon Hill 'Squad Leader' still shines.
Freezing Inferno is soon good. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I was holding out for Red Winter but Freezing Inferno didn't disappoint! What a fun game.
You certainly had a solid list, I’m just surprised you left Memoir ‘44 Eastern Front off the list, at very least it would have been either at my 9 or 10 spot.
I think it’s a great expansion. Snipers, minefields, Ski Troops, winter terrain, Soviet Commisar. (Stalingrad) Red Barricades Factory Complex is one of the best Memoir ‘44 standard scenarios of all time. Definitely worth checking out. Memoir’s Sword of Stalingrad Battlemap expansion is also great. Has a standard scenario based on Pavlov’s house as well. Comes with Urban Combat cards.
If you lived in the DFW area I would totally meet up and ensure that when you did some of these reviews, you could proudly say you played them two player
I enjoyed your list. We have two cross overs, The Russian Campaign and Stalingrad: Advance to the Volga. Both great games. I played a lot of hex and counter Eastern front games growing up, starting with Panzer Leader and then Squad Leader, and also Drang Nach Osten. Two memorable games for me came from SPI: Panzergrupoe Guderian (where the Russian units were unknown till combat); and The Winter War (USSR vs Finland). Cheers.
As usual: great list. I just realised that with exception of Assault Red Horizon and both games from mr. Thompson I don't have many East front games... Interesting!
My son came to the end of his 4th year in college, but he didn’t want to go to the ceremony or receive his diploma as he likes to procrastinate?! He was a Stalin-Grad 😅
I just want say some of mine favs, Your list is newer games so I understand. But I would say you have a good list Russian Campaign I bought the 1st ed at Avalon Hill in Baltimore. At the time I was there there were playing Battlelines Submarine. At the time I didn't know it. I think one of the guys was Don Greenwood and I think they were working it because they had purchased it from Battleline for there version. But the games I like The Columbia's East Front, AH''s Turrning Point Stalingrad, ASL's Red Barricades and No Retreat: Russian Front.
Everytime I watch one of your vids, I wind up buying the game or one of the games your are highlighting! It's dangerous to my bank account to watch your vids! Lol 😄
My 2 favourite EF games did not make it to the list. Like a few of the comments, Columbia Games Eastfront II is my favourite. Clean, easy with loads of depth. Heroes of Stalingrad is my favourite tactical. Again, easy to get into, clean and simple. Like a few others, I am interested in Quartermaster General Eastfront. Hope you get to play that one soon so you can do a review. I would be interested in your comments on that. Glad you had Scope in there. All 3 Scope games are good fun.
I just got my first GMT game ("Bayonets & Tomahawks") this week through GMT's P500 program. I'm very impressed. Based on this video, I added the Russian Campaign Deluxe 5th Edition to my P500 list. I also added the Russian Campaign Mounted Maps since it seems that the maps in the core game are just paper maps. I'm hoping you can maybe confirm that one way or the other.
My favorites are EastFront 2 from Columbia Game, Streets of Stalingrad by L2 Design Turning point Stalingrad by Avalon Hill Red Barricade for Advance Squad Leader also bt Avalon Hill And Panzerguppe Guderian by SPI I heard good things about Storm Over Stalingrad but have not played it yet.
Hey Cody, you really need to try Quartermaster General: East Front. I am surprised it is not on your list. I would put it at the top. Also, Heroes of Stalingrad from Devil Pig Games.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer You wished I hadn't of commented! You said you teach a class on WW2?...Nice. I 'm surprised the woke gen cares about that... I gave a speech on Napoleon at Waterloo in my Speech Class in college and the young people were genuinely interested.
