Apparently, Fantasy Flight Games got its hands on the rights to some obscure, 1970s sci-fi movie and made a board game out of it. Cody takes a look at Star Wars: Imperial Assault. I think I saw the movie once. Is that the one with the guy with the pointy ears?

I really want A Old Republic/Prequel Era expansion, a The Force Awakens expansion and an expansion/conversion pack (for X-Wing & Armada if no full fledged expansion) to add aerial and space battles to the campaign side of the game. I can only imagine how over the top such an addition would be for the game When it comes to skirmish, rules/conversion for space battles doesn't make a lot of sense because you could just play X-Wing or Armada instead, but it would work and make sense for the Campaign side of the game. FFG has only given use two expansions up to this point which is kind of surprising considering bow frequent the Descent 2.0 big and small box expansions were. I really hope we're going to get a lot more expansions set in different eras of the SW universe.

Yeah, I've got to agree, one of the best and funniest TDG game review vids! How many vids do you see with an Eisenhower reference, Darth Vader, opposite day and ...Dracula!!!!! Aside from the fact that its a terrific game review of star wars imperial assault, I laughed my butt off! Funny as heck!

Hey Codi, Would you still recommend this game? Have there been expansions / changes since it was released?

There have been several expansions and mini packs that have come out since it was released in 2014. There is also an app which makes it fully cooperative if you want. I haven't played it in years, however, and it did not make my most recent purge. I'm planning on giving it to a friend soon. Fun game, but there are better games out there. IMHO the best Star Wars game on the market right now is Star Wars: Rebellion - by a long shot.

The lack of gender appropriate character selection for all the classes especially the Jedi and Smuggler makes this an automatic no buy. Why would Fantasy Flight not include male character options for the two most popular roles in the movies except to milk the expansions? The character sheets should be double sided if they want to provide female roles for the token female board gamers out there. Board games need to come out of the 1970s and catch up to RPGs on the basics.

That's really nitpicky. If the lack of gender selection makes it an automatic no buy, you're really missing out on a great game over something extremely minor. There is a great balance of male and female hero characters in the game, to the point where gender selection just doesn't make a lot of sense. It sounds like the current PC attitude in today's society has effected you to the point that it is stopping you from discovering and playing an awesome game. Thats really too bad for you.

Board games aren't RPGs. The fact that you don't have to generate a character is one of the big draws of these campaign based board games. Modern board games absolutely are not stuck in the 1970's. You're entirely misguided in your opinion on this. There are a solid mix of male and female heroes. Hell, the sole Jedi in the entire game is a freaking woman! You really need to lighten up because this modern day PC attitude is ruining so many things by sucking all the fun out because everyone is so worried about this idea of diversity that they forget the entire point which is to have fun.
