I think you meant heat exhaustion... heat stroke is much more severe and dangerous. Either way, lots of fluids before and after a trip like that would help. Hope youre feeling better, Adam!

i think an electrolyte drink would have been better than too much water, if you sweated more than you took in of salts and sugars then that would have been more helpful, i heard that a glass of flat coke a cola is a life safer in an emergency!...my wife taught me a lot of stuff working with her disaster response team and the emergency services.. 👍🏻😎

caffeine is a killer for those out running around in heat and humidity. anything that raises blood pressure and heart rate. After the big 40.....gotta be more cautious than those young whipper snappers. lol

You could be right about that. If you're nauseous drinking water can make you throw-up.

Adam drinks more wader than anyone i know, I don't think he could possibly dehydrate.

I was thinking he was showing signs and symptoms of possible heat exhaustion. Although he only showed nausea and vomiting and possible fatigue.

I thought 8 to 9 bottles of water a day was just a myth? I saw it somewhere on one of those "Facts" lists. Or is that just for when it's hot and humid?

I also had read that somewhere, too. Maybe on Facebook. Can't recall. But the ER doctor told my niece to drink 8 to 9 bottles of water a day especially since she works for a small amusement park where she is outdoors for long shifts. On Saturday, there were seven other workers at the park who also suffered from heat stroke. Symptoms can come on so suddenly. It's scary. The humidity is not bad here in So. California, but we do get that scorching sun. My son and his family live in the South, and oh, my goodness, that humidity is something else. I understand the more we perspire, we need to replenish our bodies with water for the fluid loss we get from sweating. It certainly sounds like Adam was suffering from heat stroke.

actually drinking that much water isn't good. You need electrolytes too. Unless you are sweating like crazy all day. I would go by what your brain tells you. You brain will send mad crazy thirst feelings to your body when you need it.

Personally, I think each individual should ask their primary doctor, because everyone's health is different. I'm going to ask mine. The ER doctor also told my niece, who is only 23 and aside from asthma is healthy, not to drink Gatorade. Something about the sugar causing more dehydration. My husband can't drink Gatorade either because of the high sodium. So again, I would consult with my primary doctor. I'm also going to ask my friend who is a doctor. But good point. sometimes its good to get that home grown advice from people who have been there, done that. hope Adam has insurance for stuff like this. we all wish him well and are concerned for him. its only natural to want to help.
