First half -> mud, rain, bush and more mud. Second half -> blue skies, awesome mountains and amazing views. Tell me again why we went to north island to begin with? =D
I'm thinking of doing this myself. It would be my first long distance thru-hike. But I want it to be a real challenge Nothing says adventure more than the TA
@@jvdmeij Any bits of advice? I know every trail has its own personality and the only way to know for sure is to hike it. Since you've been there, figured I'd ask.
@@tommy_casual The TA is a nice trail that doesn't require a lot of prep - in terms of food and navigation - before you start, if you go sobo. And becausse the north island is not that remote, you will hit a town every few days, so you can get food, a nice dinner/beer and change your gear (remove stuff, buy new stuff etc). Just start, and the trail will figure itself out :) Use Guthook for navigation, and the trail notes for determining the length of stretches and how much food to carry.
