One year later, I’m so glad I made this video. I’ve learned to acknowledge my observations without becoming alarmed. I’ve also learned to use my heightened awareness as a strength. My level of gratitude is still high. My tolerance for foolishness is still low. Thanks to my lovely experience in corporate America, I’m building the skill of subtle influence. I’m eager to see what the next year will bring. #Aug2018
We all love you Michaela, just remember that. I'm from Czech Republic, a little country in the central Europe and only first twenty seasons aired on our TV, so I kind of had to learn English to watch your seasons :D but you are my all time favorite player from Survivor and honestly the most amazing person I have ever seen or heard of. I really hope you are reading this because I felt so much for you while watching this video and I would love to see you in another season of Survivor but if you think it's not good for you or for your life/health, I'll support you all the way. Love your videos, continue being as strong and inspiring and humble person as you are.
What's up Michaela. I've been watching Survivor since the start when I was in high school, and I gotta say, you are one of my all time favorites on the show. And it's not like you did anything crazy like some stand out "characters" on the show. I just love the strength and independent spirit your brought to the game while also sprinkling in some of your trademark sass. Keep being you and I hope you make it to the three timers club.
Wow, what you say about anxiety and packing yourself down... your words could entirely be applied to my experience being in a controlling/abusive relationship. Wow wow wow. I never thought of Survivor in that way but I can kind of understand better the psychological twisting that occurs and warps your very essence of being. Daaang. Thank you for this video. ❤️
"I f you haven't bought a new mattress in the past 8 years please go buy a mattress... I'm not geting paid by mattress people but I'm telling you..." LOVE YOU Michaela! :D
wow, I never thought about the psychological effects of Survivor after the game is done. I thought they'd have a professional counsel the contestants after the game
Ryan Ryan I love her personality. She is a genuine person and can sometime be a little hotheaded and stands up for herself. And I'm the exact same way. Also, she is great at competition but she just fell short at certain times.
+Ryan Ryan Michaela has been my favorite since the day she managed to start the fire for Ikabula tribe in GvsM and then she had an emotional breakdown in the woods talking about how much she wanted to provide for her family because it seemed everyone around her had some problems. As the season went from GvsM to Gamechangers, she became more aware and restricted the way she came across to other tribemates, and yes it's still far away from Cirie's level but the girl's learning and progressing and I love her for it. Most importantly, like Ahmari said, if you peel off a person's exterior facade of how she looks, behaviors, you'd see a genuine, nice person in Michaela. This girl paid off all of her student loans. Instead of whining about how life is unfair to her, she's managed to be a survivor in real life. I'll aways root for Michaela.
Loved you on the show! I’ve actually applied and am hoping to be on the show soon! I know that this was 2 years ago so I hope that you’ve been able to deal with your anxiety and your thoughts! The best way to deal with things like that In my opinion instead of wishing they would go away is truly sitting with those thoughts and accepting them for what they are and realizing why there are there. When you can accept and love all aspects of yourself, that anxiety and doubt will naturally fade.
Your comment about strategizing for people you see struggling is so interesting because I think that talking to people in that situation could be informative. I've learnt that usually if there's an obvious answer and it hasn't been done it's because there's some problem that's not visible on the surface.
I love that you did this! I'm a lot older than you, closer to your Mom's age. I've been watching survivor since day 1 and I love it, I don't a season. I always wondered if it affected you when you got home. So I'm glad you did this. You described my reason for anxiety to a T! Wow, you are a very insightful person. One thing I do have to say, is please be careful with helping the people on the streets. Some are probably making more money a year than you from their daily collections. The news has covered this, where the person looks homeless and after collecting the money they get into their expensive car and drive off. 1 year, I passed this older gentleman on a corner in Carrollton/Plano and he had a sign about his wife in the hospital and needing money. o.k. the next summer he was sitting same corner, same sign. Just be careful, I don't want anything happening to you. Take care and exercise the heck out of the anxiety. It can be dibilitating at times. Take care and I hope you do more of these Teas. Especially when the new survivor starts. Thank you.
I'm glad you made this video. You're being honest and real. Which is why you are one of my fav all time survivors. I enjoyed learning about how this experience has affected you. Keep working on getting through the troubles and staying positive. You're awesome!
Michaela I truly loved watching this. I totally hear every word you're saying, they resonate so well with my life too. And it really warms my heart to see you just always being so genuinely positive about things. So excited to hear more from you!
Hey Michaela. 24 from Toronto. I completely relate to your story. I went from the happiest and most fulfilled I ever was when I was 18 to completely broken after my first year of uni. Did an intense philosophy program that inadvertently encouraged me to go deeper into my mind and unhealthy thoughts, which I previously kept under control. I mourned my old self For long time, and also what the year cost. I found meditation, mindfulness exercises, and therapy helps. Hope you're okay, you're my favourite!
Goddess, we all have to hush ourselves at some point, it's part of growing up. Your situation is valid, and I encourage you to really check into mental health dynamics, because when you put names to things they become manageable and you just have to breathe through them, which gives you time to identify emotions without flipping out. Looking forward to your next post!
Awwwwwww. Thanks for sharing this insightful video. Peace and Blessings to you as you continue your life outside of Survivor. Much love and respect "Cousin" (Insider) lol
I love you Michaela and this is exactly why I told you in another video that I would like to see more of you but I don't want you to be hungry and feel bad in an island for more time. Zeke on the other hand had a better back to back seasons experience. Zeke won several rewards and I'm sure he had a better time. If you ever play again try to understand that while it is a difficult experience it's a game and that people need to play like that in order to win or get further in the game. Actually this is why Millennials vs X-Gen is considered one of the best seasons of survivor. The people playing in that season understood what they need to do to play the game well. Please take care of yourself and I will support you in anything that you may decide in the future. Your survivor experience was not the best but I'm glad that you did it because I became a fan of you :).
liemuchbro dude, clearly, you do care about the her, just like J.T. and Brad do. It's no coincidence that you clicked on her video. Her race evidently bothers all three of you trolls. You incidentally proved her point with your self-contradicting comment. Lol. Bigots are idiots.
liemuchbro dude, you seem to assume a lot, because you are deluded. If you (and everyone who feels as you do) hate her so much, avoid her. It's not rocket science. The fact that you returned here, even if just to respond, demonstrates that you are a hater. Since you do not personally know her, yet you hate her, that is a prejudice. It's just TV, dude. The reality of situation is edited to be entertaining. I personally listen to what she has said, on and off Survivor, and she is an extraordinary bright woman who has earned her place in the world. Respect what she was done to better herself instead (including her education and career), and how she encourages others to never let others make you fear yourself. What have you done to deserve the right to decide the worth and meaning of what she has done and said? I admire her, for what she represents, despite her flaws. Yes, i have noticed that she's not perfect. We're all impefect human beings. It's the thought that counts, along with the dedication to risk safety of routine and obscurity for betterment. She put herself out there, unlike you, who is protected by anonymity, against the consequences of your ignorance being publicized. She is allowed to defend herself against her opinions of know-it-alls, like Brad, who couldn't even answer her question to him about her, yet he trash-talked her throughout the season.
Great tea... Amanda Kimmel had similar anxiety after she ended her back to back. Sounds like back to back is extremely stressful all around. You will come out on top for sure.
I haven't watched survivor in a long time however I do watch the Challenge decided to check out some videos because I saw something during deliberations and I was right.
If you're having anxiety attacks you should really consider seeing a psychiatrist. It's not uncommon to have anxiety after a difficult experience and seeing a professional who can help you deal with it might give you the tools to manage it easier.
This may work in terms of sharing and finding solutions. I think it would bring comfort to you to have a life coach. A professional one that out side of being a life coach is successful.
Just caught up on your channel now. I went through all of this myself. Inevitably things are getting better for you but if you still need help managing anxiety, the book "Full Catastrophe Living" by Jon Kabat Zinn changed my life and helped me overcome crippling anxiety. Maybe you would find it helpful too. Great video. Thanks for sharing. You are an amazing person.
Michaela ,I know you might not answer but I have a huge favor .Can you please spread the news around to give all ten votes to Sara and hero on agt voting
