Teaching your dog to do nothing is a crucial and incredible tool to have your toolbox! Dogs need to learn to have an off switch. This makes your life easier because you can do things like work in your office or clean the house or weed the gardens outside and your dog understands duty and that their job is to lay down and be patient. It also makes your dog’s life easier because their body has the opportunity to take a break. A lot of dogs will pace and be busy all day unless they learn this expectation. This is a skill you can teach and proof at home so that your dog can transfer this skill into the real world. Places like restaurants, breweries, your friends barbecue. How much easier would it be to have your dog in those settings if it understood this skill??
