Teacher Explains Soil Fraction Size Boundaries  

Sieve test is conducted to classify soil. The classification (USCS) is based on the amount of coarse-grained and fine-grained fractions. There are the ASTM boundaries: 4.75 mm between gravel and sand; and 0.075 mm between sand and fines (which included silt and clay). This video explains the boundaries and shows what gravel, sand and fines look like.
