This man was probably the most educated and thoughtful teacher they had. They have lost a gem, and he should fight back and get a huge settlement from the school.
I watched his video with his students. He didn't do much of anything. He just feigned ignorance of social controversy and behaved as if the inability to provide a presentation on the topic at the drop of a hat meant that the well-documented and attested evaluation of Rowling as transphobic was the same as being uninformed. His biases were pretty clear. The people agreeing with him now just think that rationality is a dispassionate costume you adopt, not a method of getting to the truth. Any high school would have been able to outline the logical requirements of an argument. "If you think this, you would have to maintain that." That's not what he did.
He wrote a book on his company computer!? He should have backed it up on a thumb drive. But, yeah, he has a bit coin account and so we know he's stupid. Oh, and he's in education. Really, if you're in education and you're not a Marxist Post Modernist, well, you should have expected to be fired at some point. I was going to go into teaching as a second post retirement career, because one of my favorite high school teachers had done that, but, with politics the way they are, I decided it would probably turn out to be a tragic waste of my time... all it takes is to say anything sincere in front of some True Believer Post Modernist Marxist Administrator and it'd all be out the window. If he has any friends left, they could sneak onto his computer and get him his Book File back.
That wasn't critical thinking. I watched the video and wondered how this guy and student could for one moment believe critical thinking was about dissecting that one tweet.
