Lou Ferrigno “Hulk” speaks English and no sign language because he got a hearing aid when he was 4 in 1955. I was so surprised by him. Elon Musk said “What’s the point of sign language in a video if you have substitutes? Am I missing something?” He is right because most deaf people couldn’t understand that closed captioning “illiteracy”. ASL is not great to teach deaf children or a bad education because they struggle how to read sentences. I am still unhappy if ASL exists in some public schools except deaf schools. Hopefully, cued speech will teach them instead in the future. Sigh poor deaf children 😢 STOP TEACHING SIGN LANGUAGE. CUED SPEECH IS THE BEST CHOICE INSTEAD! Sign language is risky because I remember a doctor gave me her note-taking and she wrote “Are you upset”. I didn’t know what a word was but I was 11. That’s a HUGE disappointment. My public school had a bad education, sign language is not English, and DELAY speech. I tried to encourage them to cued speech instead. There are new technologies such as cochlear implants and hearing aids, so sign language is not necessary for deaf children right now. By the way, today is 2024 not the 1800s. ASL is beautiful but it should NOT be taught to deaf children unless teenagers or adults because they will be illiterate if they can't read or have difficulty writing English maybe. Truth: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ne46UDOO06U.htmlsi=VtMqIVlQNJL3KWER I need to fix that timeline. Thanks for understanding.

I can't tell if you are joking or not, but I will simply say this. There are no statistics that state "Deaf children will become illiterate if they learn ASL." In fact there are statistics that state the opposite. If a child has a base language that they can fully comprehend, then they can learn a thousand different languages if they want. Deaf children who are raised with sign and grow up to be proficient signers often are not just literate but learn other languages (both spoken and sign a like) as well. The illiterate Deaf children whose main language is ASL aren't illiterate because they learned ASL, it's because they did not have the proper support in language acquisition from their family and school. These children you speak of are not proficient signers and probably don't have a grasp on a lot of basic concepts because they have been allowed to fall through the educational cracks by their parents and the school system. I really hope you are joking because what you are commenting is severely outdated and harmful rhetoric that only ends in forced assimilation and genocide.

Cued Speech (Cued Language Transliteration) is better than ASL for English

@@masontalarico7090 No I'm serious. I research about Total Communication. It was so risky because I had bad sign language, poor English, and a lack of speech in a mainstream school when I grew up there. My parents spoke Spanish and didn't even know how to sign language. I looked like I was a language deprivation. I wish they chose Cued Speech or Auditory/Oral for me instead of Total Communication.

@@masontalarico7090 I hope you will be delusional. I wonder why most bosses reject deaf people for his or her jobs.

@SC_jamesbond007jua Cued Speech is better to help assimilate Deaf kids into hearing culture, but that shouldn't be our goal. Our goal shouldn't be to force Deaf people to accomadate for hearing people. It should be to encourage hearing people to accomadate for Deaf people, and statistically, ASL is more accomadating and practical for Deaf people. Hearing people can learn sign language. Deaf people can't learn to hear. If a Deaf person decides for themself to switch to Cued Speech then I will support that, but only if they choose to it for themself. ASL should always be encouraged for Deaf people and friends and family of Deaf people.
