TEACHING A GIANT SCHNAUZER TO SIT STILL!!!! (Impulse Control) 

Guys....just a few main points of emphasis concerning teaching a dog to sit still.
1. Puppies SHOULD NOT be asked to sit still. It's not fair & quite frankly ridiculous.
Ask a 5 year old toddler to sit still & see how that works out for you.
When it comes to teaching impulse control you HAVE to take into consideration life stage.
Either way...the process is just that. IT'S A PROCESS & doesn't come by way of expecting it before you've earned it.
My personal goal is to form the pattern so many times with something in it for the dog at the end that the dog WANTS to hold the position.
Again....WHAT IS IN IT FOR THE DOG? There HAS to be a silver lining to doing something they normally wouldn't want to do.
Otherwise the dog isn't learning in the way that I prefer them to.
People go HEAVY on their dogs & you can see the difference in their demeanor.
My dogs look engaged & happy do they not? They WANT to perform this stuff it's not because they are AFRAID of the consequence.
Not to say I don't believe in consequences because I clearly do but...yeah.
With all of that said....if you're having a hard time with this, you simply need to get to work & you need to work it a little bit EVERY SINGLE DAY if you expect something solid.
