Teaching American History: Declaration of Independence Classroom 1 

i believe all american students NEED to be educated on the declaration of independence. it is the REASON and HOW the United States was born and why America became an entirely separate identity from the U.K.

"All men are created equal"... nothing less evident. Where is it written... in the sky?

"All men are created equal" not meaning all men or women. Jefferson chose his words very carefully. He was not contradictory. He was writing to the King with meaning that all men are created equal to not be subjected to a ruler or tyrant such as a king or dictator. Men referred to all men in free status. Not slaves or women . He would have put that if he meant that.For Jefferson and many of our Founding Fathers, the phrase "…that all men are created equal…" really meant that "all free, property-owning males are created equal". He did however have a section of the document dedicated to emancipation of the slaves by making them as indentured servants until they mastered a craft to be a productive part of society as independent people. This was rejected by Adams and Franklin , although they were against slavery, for another time after the Declaration was signed by all 13 colonies first. Hard words to hear considering we must be PC but it's true. Nice lesson for the students. We need more of this!

No, Americans need to learn about other countries history as well as their own! Maybe then this would prevent American ignorance!

this guy would have made history a little bit more bareable for me since he explains it so well and tells you about the hypocracy and mistakes these so called founding fathers made...this teacher basically calls them out for their bs...i like it ....my teachers wouldnt have the onions to do that ....they respected them way too much...i never understood it ....now im starting too...

My American History Teacher Staff Teaching me History Class i learning that in School High School,Middle School,and Elementary SchoolDeclaration of Independence President Thomas Jefferson,as Bill Barker characters he is Slave Owner instead he was Slave owner because Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence July 4,1776 republican in the people of rights.

I don't feel any of the subjects was explain in any detailed, you can see that us English gets taught to broaden the view and creativity in analysing a piece with decorative finish, the language of this is, the type of language I was taught in year 1. its way too immature for those kids the american education wants to pull the finger from their rear end and teach these students high education, if they want to stand a chance in the world. I'm not saying that this lesson was weak I am state in the fact that they should be taught in a more higher educated way with the vocabulary widened threw strength as well as harden those questions let the kids think then over think.
