I'm so glad I came across this video because I was teaching my son to sound out each letter which was helping him much because by the time he gets to the 3rd letter he completely forgets what the first 2 letters says which makes it impossible to figure out the word. I will definitely be using this method going forward to eliminate the pause in between. Thank you Jady A for sharing.

I am starting to homeschool my son in the Fall for Preschool, but we have been working on a lot since he was about two. I just found your channel recently and I am really enjoying watching all of your videos that pertain to what is helpful to us and what we are and will be working on! That’s good to know that it takes time to blend that’s were we are at rn . I wish I’d started all this sooner when daughter was little. Because now I feel we’re behind but I try not to think like that cause they all learn at there own pace . 🤔🧡❤️ thank you for your videos !!!

Ok my son knows his letter sounds like you stated but here's the problem. Let's say I write down BAT. He can sound out each letter but then he looks at me and goes bumblebee. Or is I write HAT. Again he can sound it out but then says hippo. It's like he associated the beginning sound with a word and says that word even if he can sound out the letters. What do I do?!?!

So I just made the board with ba be bi bo bu ect. What I’m confused about is how that helps them blend the end of the word. Bc when I see him trying to sound out a word he’ll do CA-t not c-AT Is there a blending board I could make for the ends of the word? Or is that not a thing? Am I just complicating this in my head? Lol I’m a new homeschool mom that never thought she’d have the proper background to actually teach my kids anything. Your videos have helped enormously in gaining this confidence but I’m having a hard time finding a comprehensive method of teaching reading (for me to first understand, then be able to teach) I love your methodology but I have some questions (like the one above) Anyways if anyone has any pointers in reference to what I asked please don’t hesitate to jump in and help me out. I’m probably going to buy that phonics book you recommended on Amazon. Maybe this will help me understand the q’s I have?

Hey! Congratulations on stepping out into homeschooling! Congratulations on overcoming the system that tries to brainwash you into thinking you're not good enough because you're "just a mom". You are the best BECAUSE you're the mom! Have you done the first step, which is teach the individual letter sounds? The blends come second and they help the child read that much faster. Rather than reading c-a-t, they read (as you said) ca-t. Perhaps you've seen a slightly different approach that focuses on the end parts of words and that generated the confusion? It's how I was taught to read: h-at, c-a-t, m-at, etc. Jady's system focuses on beginning blends, so ca-t, ca-b, ca-n. Does that make sense?

Oh! If your child is having trouble blending the first part (fu) with the final letter(n), try playing "say it slow" (here you drag each letter for a few seconds, without pausing: ffffffuuuuuuunnnnnn), then "say it fast" (FUN!) Edit: Jady does this at about 3:15. Serves me right for reading the comments before watching the video 😂
