Meet Luke, he's in High School and is working for us this summer.
In this video, I'm teaching him some techniques we use to pour concrete.
How do you think he's doing so far?
We're pouring a 24' x 24' concrete floor for a new garage. This is a good floor to learn on because it's not too big but it's also not too small so Luke gets some good concrete training.

Love seeing a young man interested in the concrete and construction field. Not many younger fellas even want to get their hands dirty anymore. Learning from one of the best.

I remember when I started pouring concrete with my dad I was 13 years old I use to go with him when I was 10 years old on weekends man was he hard on me. But it made me who I am today I still do concrete works today and he helps me on jobs today I actually have some guys that started with him when I was 13 and they were in there 20’s still pouring that mud, we live in Houston tx you can imagine how hot and humid it is down here, keep up the good work on teaching Luke

I moved to Wyoming 10 years ago and all they have here is the rear discharge trucks. I miss the front discharge trucks from upstate NY but don't miss ny. Lol awesome videos.

You not only said what, but explained why. That is a very important portion of learning and communicating I feel many people miss. When I'm training someone I always explain why, it really helps the lesson sink in.

Great to see a young guy giving it a go! Even if he docent take up the trade hands on is the best teacher for life's lessons! Learning a trade can be a useful tool down the road. He has some good teachers. Peace, have a great week!

Great video! There were a few tips on the “whys” that I caught. One question though… I understand why you mag the edges before screeding, but why use a magnesium instead of steel first, then use a steel trowel for finishing? Why not just use steel trowels, or just use mag trowels? Why do you need both? What’s the difference between steel and mag for concrete work?

Don't know how you guys screed with 2 blokes calibrated on 1straight edge . We use the eazy screed 1 man screed in australia.

The aussie way with the clip on screeds is far superior in terms of flatness. I can reliably screed within 2mm or to the mm if its dry. While il admit the 2 man straight edge smashes it out it wouldn't be as flat as our screeding and it takes more bull floating.
