well, You are running about 175% so I am sure your students dont fall asleep. I am teaching online for the last 6 months or so, it is all I know so far, working on my TEFL, halfway trhough. Thank You for the information. my students range from 5 - 60. I never know who I am talking to next unless they schedule an appointment in advance. almost 4,000 conversations and about 1/3 of which they students have not turned their cameras on (religious or cultural preference). I dont have any thing planned, I do have a list of ideas and possible website links to share depending upon the student. I will look through your other videos. You are very energetic. Take care.

Thanks! Much appreciated at a time like this.! Seeing as we can't give the lessons here in France with the Coronavirus. We have been asked to make some videos to send to the kids.

Hi I am in South Africa. I will be having a class demo in two days. Teaching kids in china.. I am nervous. I had been teaching face to face for 12 years now but it just feels like I am a beginner
Hi Sebentile, thanks for watching! Best of luck with your demo class, it's normal to be nervous but you will do great I'm sure! Hi Chloe, thanks so much for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! How exciting! I hope the course goes well and that the channel helps you get started. Where in the world are you hoping to teach?
Hi, watching from Melbourne. I'm interested in teaching English online to Lao students but still have no idea which platforms can I use to create the class. So, still keep watching many online teaching videos.
Hi there, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Generally I think it depends on who you are working for, some companies have a specific platform they like use. If teaching independently, Zoom works well enough, but software like ClassIn has much better features. I hope that helps and best of luck getting started! 😊
Good morning ☀️! I started an online ESL business. Any suggestions on getting FREE or low cost Pronunciation lessons for adults ? Your help is appreciated.
Hi Khethiwe, thanks so much for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community !I'm so glad the video was helpful. Where in the world are you teaching?
HI, I just found your channel and I really like what you are sharing here with your fellow teachers. Thanks a lot!!!! By the way, I teach ESL to young and adult students from the USA to anywhere in the world since I have become a virtual teacher after COVID.
@@MooncakeEnglish Hi) I live in Ukraine! I mostly prep for TOEFL and IELTS . Recently was asked if I would teach a 7 year old boy, onilne, of course. Hence, I started looking for info online on how to teach rugrats)) Oh, mamma mia! It's a whole different ball game! Especially if there is not tactile contact, you cannot ground a kid (you know what I mean? help them focus) They cannot move around much, they are stuck in front of a screen... It's hard enough getting a child involved in a game, but close to impossible in my book to get them to focus at their computer. Of course, it takes a great skill and a volcano of energy to accomplish all that! You've most definitely got all of that! It's entertaining to watch your animated face, gestures, and sense of humor even as an adult! Kids must love you! Thank you for making these educational videos for your peers. It's wonderful to have an opportunity to learn from you! Ann

I'm not currently teaching online so I'm not sure which platforms are still hiring after the changes in China closed a lot of companies. I hope you are able to find a good position though 😊 Best of luck!
Hi Christian, thanks for watching! It really depends what you're teaching, who you're teaching and who you are teaching with. Most online teaching companies will provide materials for teachers and have them follow set curriculums. Some teachers are using Google drive but some countries such as China don't allow access to Google related content, so students wouldn't be able to reach materials. Images either in PPT format or just as flashcards shown on screen can certainly help. A whiteboard is also a very useful tool. Just like when teaching in the classroom, using regalia, images, and sounds can help students understand and remember new content. It just depends what materials are going to work best for your situation. I hope that helps!
Hi Delisa, thanks so much for watching! I'm so happy the video helped. Are you being asked to teach online right now? Or were you already an online teacher?

the kindergarten I work for has just started up online teaching,we have 10 children in the 1st class, this will be my 1st time teaching online. The class is for one hour and we are teaching phonics. The course is not very interactive.I am working with a Chinese English teacher she will control the course part and I have to teach the children. any advice for teaching 10 children at a time? The Children no who I am as i have taught them in normal class.I am a little nervous and i have done some practice. I live in Shenzhen (Longgang) China.
Hi Rob, thanks so much for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! One hour for an online kindergarten class is really long! So when teaching I would bear that in mind as some students will struggle to concentrate on screen for that long. In terms of classroom management, I would try to plan activities that keep your students on their toes. For example, you can give each student a number. When asking the class questions, you can quickly say a number and that student then needs to answer. This means all the whole class is listening because they don't know who will have to answer. Combine this with a reward system or a team points and it helps to keep students motivated. I would also have attention grabbers with some kind of hand movement that you can randomly use throughout the class to keep students on their toes. Then reward those that do the attention grabber the fastetst. Again, this helps to keep students in their toes. To manage who is speaking, I would be sure to mute the microphones of all students until you want them to speak or for them all to contribute. But it will also help to have a visual prompt so students know it's their turn to speak. This might be a speech bubble cut out or a traffic light indicator. For games, I have already made a few videos that might help ru-vid.com/group/PLWnDxOCiXGiq85RYiM9_eMH93wznDuIi5 There are also some free ppt downloads on my website www.mooncakeenglish.com which can help. Mooncake English they say their kids can’t be exposed to their phone or computer for a long time , and they afraid it won’t be successful especially the kids are young
@@zackchine1 They do have some valid points. From articles I've read, young students shouldn't be exposed to too much screen time (I can't remember the exact recommended times). So I wouldn't worry too much if parents are opting to wait until school opens once again 🙂
@@zackchine1 That's quite common for small students in China. Yet many children control the remotes and have their own ipads, but who's checking?! I have been creating activities which the parents can look at first and then set them up for the kids, which limits their screen time. For example, gross motor activities incorporating letters or numbers. They're still learning, but do not need to be near a computer.
