Actually, this doesn't happen in wholesome, well-adjusted, middle-class USA, nuclear family situations where all members are responsible & responsive healthy Christians. Ijs. That's my opinion after about 40 years of casual observation and reading. But in the case of Elliot Page? Who has confessed to hearing voices commanding disturbing things... Yeah. Let's not confuse who's who, doing what old H-Town since the mid-50's has increasingly done: turn portrayals of life into political-cultural hitpieces against mid-USA. Making it's problems seem like mid-USA problems, and taking all excellences and omitting their real stability, strengths, origins & roots, etc. For example, how Chris Nolan's 2017 "Dunkirk" was CHEAPENED and made LESS human & LESS interesting by omitting the Biblical phrase "But If Not" - probably the most important, well-known, meaningful, historical, contextually meaningful, human SOS message in history. So you see? Interesting things DO occur - but those problematic situations are in real life MUCH more culturally & psychologically interesting, human, and real - too much for H-Town's adopted managerial political philosophy of the last 50 years. They must Omit, they must Twist, and call it 'art'. They cannot tell the real story about reality, with accuracy in accurate 360-degree deep & human contexts. The bad is cheapened & shallowed & twisted around instead - as a jab against those other than themselves...while they good - they seek to appropriate that for themselves as masks. That's how we arrive at 2024, not understanding each other OR ourselves... Oh, but the cheap, fake, stylistic drama (increasingly obvious) that keeps rolling out of old H-Town. We need to do better - and I'm sort-of talking about ALL of us. We need better, more impartial, more balanced and holistic reasoning in our portrayals of the world (especially eschatology - if I were to preach at churchy circles, since deep history & deep future seems to be where the church loses touch, ijs. To them I would say: let's begin by solidifying our earthly common sense and word-for-word and study the evidences.) Ghosts, ET aliens, Demons, etc...there are specific dynamics, situations, mindsets, faults & remedies that begin to be quite predictable after years of study of mysterious settings & situations - once one becomes good at sifting truth from lie, exaggeration from ignorance, innocent motives from faulty motives for selectively believing, editing, covering. (A good place to start is with those Christians who, in the 2010's to now, have done extensive research on the E.T. Alien Vs Demon and Ghost Vs Demon discussions, evidences, stories, videos from the 20th century & 21st century alone! Those who stick close to actual scientific evidences, comparative human reasoning, stories from living contemporaries, and Bible, rather than myth & deep history...and compare stories of demons, occult, and e.t. aliens (for example) usually come away thinking, yeah, often its delusions of psychological sublimation covering for actual demonic encounters (demons are, by definition, deceptive and anti-Jesus anti-Bible) and often after dabbling (voluntarily or involuntarily) some branch of occultic neo-paganism. Problem for H-Town is that those who frequently experience those things, if portrayed accurately, frequently indict the comfortable cultural mores, images and thought-barriers that the FR Left needs to remain intact in order to remain culturally & politically successful. If those mysterious, awkward, quirky, scary, immoral, even supernatural situations were to be shown in all their variety, plain-ness, predictability & unpredictability, it would probably (more often than not) reveal a consistently expansive panorama of the world! But in the direction of human faults and the maze of faulty post-modern quagmire even amid all the cultures of history the world over. Anyway, I think we're almost totally post- post-modern at this point. It's ironically ironic. But the leftovers of secularism ('right' and 'left' - face it - it's leftward collectivism) simply don't want to give up their ghosts. They have selectively & purposefully marched, edited, omitted THIS FAR. And they want to maintain their winnings at the expense of real human reality & faithful portrayals of the ins & outs of mystery and evil and good.
