Awesome video! Only two things I would add is if you don't have the budget for a spinning wing decoy, you can make a pretty simple jerk rig with a stake, 1 small bungee cord and 50 feet of paracord. Also I usually bring a fishing net if I am hunting out of a kayak. It makes retrieving ducks a little bit easier. I totally was the guy who capsized my kayak while reaching for a duck.
I won a blind in a normally non hunting area of a state park blind for opening day here in Ohio early Goose and Teal season. This will be my first ever waterfowl hunt so I'm pumped.
7s for teal is new for me. I personally never go below a 4 for anything waterfowl. In Minnesota we don't have much time before birds start to get thicker plumage. Might have to pick some up just for teal season. Good info especially in headlamps.
All I've used for years are Hen Mallard decoys. I picked up some BW and GW Teal decoys super cheap last year and will use the hens from those. Mallard Hens will work just fine. Think of them as Magnum Teal decoys.
I love 6-7.5 steel in 2.75. Dove and teal don’t know the difference with a ic choke. The drawback is you are only allowed a 25 count box of shells on management area land in Alabama for waterfowl.
Was able to find fast teal 6 Shot and Winchester 6 shot steel 12 this year then bought a 20 the other day was able to get 2 3/4 4s I'm going yo use that this year also
So I’ve seen where people have said to absolutely not bring mallard spinners like honestly how do you really feel about the mallard spinners during blue wing teal hunting
They do look similar but at the same time they’re pretty easy to tell what is what, woodies are bigger and fly a little slower. The drakes are actually in their full plumage all year round so that’s another distinction lol
Wait wait wait. Don’t listen to this. Use your mallard call, don’t even camo up (it’s hot guys), no need for decoys/spinners. If you think it’s a good spot, drop the rest of us a pin. We’ll avoid it. Happy Hunting
@@OutdoorLimits I was wondering that as well! I have some neoprene I’ve never been cold in (Michigan gets icy 🥶), but wanted to get a new set. I’ll look into them, thanks 🙏🏼
