Well, in essence the guy could be a genius and prodigy, but he was cocky and arrogant, unlike Sakumo. Anyone who watched those anime fillers saw that Kakashi didn't care about anyone. In addition, Might Guy wanted to approach Kakashi to have a rival, and Kakashi didn't care first, so basically Guy forced a "friendship" without Kakashi himself wanting it. Kakashi by himself was already an arrogant asshole, but after he saw Sakumo dead, then he started to care only about the rules and screw the others. I don't think Kakashi looked down on anyone as much as Obito did. During the Kannabi Bridge, Kakashi and Obito had a falling out and separated, as Kakashi wanted to leave Rin behind and complete the mission and Obito wanted to go after her.
