Each time they cut over the audio to the other team, my immediate reaction is "No don't switch it, I want to hear Team X's thoughts!" followed one second later by "Ooh, I'm glad they switched it, Team Y's conversation is really fascinating"

This was a great format! Hearing top players talk through their thought process live is rare.

It's actually not rare since there's many videos of Hikaru, Magnus, Fabi, and even Anish, Dubov, and many others where they talk through their process. What's rare is hearing top players communicate live with other players. It's cool hearing how Fabi edits his thought process due to Christian's suggestions.

Such a wholesome event. With chess so full of drama it is nice to see players building each other up. Really great to showcase the thought process behind such high level games. Thanks to all involved!

Yeah, I was hoping they'd win game 2. But it seems like c2 is unbeatable in this format. Right now I can't imagine any 2 guys who'd beat them. For example, even if Magnus joins, how will their team chemistry work? Let's say Magnus + Dubov...

This may be the most commemorable video for me as I have the most history with each of these players and the most idolization for the commentator as an Alapin specialist myself. I am FM Steven Breckenridge, and I've known both Robert and Fabiano since back on ICC in early 2000s and have a plus record against Fabiano and maybe RLH2 as well, but Fabi did beat me out of an easy draw I had with black at the World Blitz and Rapid (in blitz) in 2014. Now Christian I have faced several times over the board in Texas while we were both studying (Me at TTU, him at UTD) and he eked out wins 3 times and possibly the only player who has such a record vs me otb. And lastly Danya and I competed in 2007 Jr High Nationals when he was just 11 yrs old and a NM that I defeated (with black) in order to win the championship that year. So this video is just very nostalgic and a pleasure to watch. 🍻 🥂

This was definitely the best match of the tournament. Neither team had any huge rivalries (for content or otherwise) which made the post-match discussions far more engaging. Trash talk is entertaining, but I feel like I learnt something when I heard them discuss the intricacies after f4 in the first game. Cant wait for the next Team Chess Battle! Only one qualm with it all, increment for armageddon? It'd be far more entertaining to see team chess time scrambles without increment 😂
@johndeaux8815

One last note, it'd be cool if they had an open tournament for this. "Oh but what if Hikaru just teams with Magnus?" 5000 combined team ELO maximum.

Enjoyed this format, this was a great tournament. It would be cool if in the future, there was a short period during the middle game where the chat opened up and the teams could hear each other. It would be a moment for mid-game trash talk and teams wouldn't be able to conspire since the other team could hear them. Could be a minute long and start when the first team reaches 5 minutes left. Just a thought.

"Let me double check in my head." 1:12:25 "Danya, don't tell the world ur deep preparations!" 1:14:38 Wtf is going on here?! Do I look stupid? Do you all think I look stupid or something? There is very obviously something to the right of Danya that he is looking at. The board screen is right in front of him and there is another thing he is looking at to the right when he drawing a blank and is "confirming" moves. You can put both of these clips together and tell there is something to the right being looked at when a blank is drawn.. not up to the ceiling not to the left... but to the right. Whether its a screen or tablet phone I have no clue... but when he draws on a blank of a variation he is looking over. And just knowing there is a slight edge and stuff. Idk it just doesn't feel right and Hess lowkey let him know the mic was back on them by being just of being blatant about it. I think it would be really difficult to catch. Are they all 4 being recorded by 2+ cameras? You can't tell by time management because they are still discussing moves. Maybe it's not even ALL the time... but I can just tell there is something being glanced at over there. You can see it in his eyes. I'm not stupid. Maybe everyone knows and they are in on it to make the games closer? I don't know... but its so obviously something over there. At 1:25:30 Naroditsky and Hess are playing at 99.1%. Something doesn't feel right. I get it that they didn't win... but that isn't really the point. There was very obviously something fishy happening and I'm not just going to act stupid to it like I didn't notice anything. I'll tell you what... when I play chess and I am in deep thought calculation I am NEVER looking over at anything else. I sit with my hands on my head and I calculate I never look up at the ceiling or be glancing away as much as they guys do and IF I do it is completely random. You can very obviously tell there is a board right in front of Danya and something else is to the right and he is systematically looking at it. Not random and it's not to the other direction ever. Go ahead tell me I'm crazy. I love everyone on this stream and I have nothing against any of them. I'm kind of shocked about it really... it's like painfully obvious to me.
