Problem with Team India is we still lack multidimensional allrounders like what Dhoni had. See in 2011 we had allrounders like Raina Yuvraj and Ashwin. Plus Sachin Tendulkar and Virat where part time bowlers and we had three gun fast bowlers like Zaheer Khan Munaf Patel Nehra and Sreesanth. 2 left arm pacers 2 right arm fast bowlers and at no.7 or 8 we had a batting allrounder who scored 100s in all three formats of game. Plus no left right combination lack of proper allrounders and timid approach cost us 2023 WC. I was skeptical of this squad even during Asia cup no allrounders no left handers in middle order no deep batting. I mean seriously when will India realise this mistake and invest in allrounders and when in a 11 we will have 3 to 4 allrounders in a 11 and when will we have batting till no.8 or 9 or like having 7 to 8 bowling options.

Our team management have failed to notice or learn from those, no matter how dominant our international rankings and performances are. Ravi Shastri mentioned at the 1st match against Ind and Aus at Chepauk that the same two teams will meet in the final. We took it light and perhaps underrated the Aussies who improved their performance by winning 8 straight games after losing the first two. The Aussies took the right advice from their think tanks, made bold decision to chase, backed themselves fully, performed brilliantly as a team in all three departments of the game to prevail over us in the final that matters most! We were clearly missing in strategy wrt team selection and batting order etc. Eg: when SKY is included as specialist batsman and we needed to put runs on the board, why send him below Jadeja? If there's no confidence on SKY in the middle order, then Ashwin could have been selected who would have certainly contributed with the ball much better, while scoring some runs too! We keep paying for our strategic errors in big moments that matter, the WTC 2023 first and CWC 2023 now, both after a splendid run up to the final giving us all hope that the cup is ours on each of those occasions! Hope it will be fixed and we come back to our winning ways soon in big ICC trophies.
