I feel like the whip 1/1 + double tuck could get scary if the twist is funny on the landing, the double back isn't going to rise or could go scary sideways.

You just won all the medals for referring to a skill as very original as opposed to, shudder, "very unique." As you know, but so few who discuss gymnastics do, no amount of training or difficulty enables a person or skill to be "very the only one."

As far as I understand, it’s about the technique. Not sure. That’s a better question for someone who’s more knowledgable on this subject than I am 😅

So... this is so strange to uncover the fact that the code of points differentiates and assigns higher value to a whip full than a layout full. That's just odd to me. The poster above is correct that it's about technique but it's honestly a relatively subtle distinction that I'm surprised they aren't both just 'B' skills. But good on the Italian coaches for figuring out this was something possible and likely overlooked within the code.

Very subtle differences. A whip is done in a quick manner, and more of an "interrupted" bounce, also more piked. A layout is a very laid out somersault through out, more floaty, more air time, higher.

A whip is essentially a bhs with no hands. And a layout full would be higher and with out Whipping down action that creates power to connect to another skill . But less power than a bhs because you don't get the push off of the hands . This is why it's considered more difficult when the big skill of a tumbling pass is done out of a whip back I stead of a traditional bhs. Having said that the whip full isn't quite as powerful as a regular whip due to adding the twist ..atleast it appears that way. She didn't have as much of a pike down as a normal whip would. Hope that helps !

@@loveanimalsmost2134 Yeah this is where it gets weird to me cuz I think a really clear 'whip' technique works for maybe a whip half at most, and to get 360+ degrees going, you honestly can't really do a really true whip. This is also such a rare thing that I'm very surprised that the CoP accepted these as distinct skills with different values.
