Ratna Pathak is one of those very very rare breed of actors who have never inhibited in any way all through career. She is a chameleon, she convinces you as a conservative mother in Kapoor and Sons. She was great as a high society lady in Ekk Main Aur Ek Tu. And, not to forget, she was impeccable as Sarabhai. Anupama Chopra, thank you so much for bringing these ladies. As a film buff I was craving for her words. Please do an interview with Aahana Kumra, who was fantastic in Yuddh. FC is becoming like a bottle of Old Monk for me. I start thinking I'll stop after couple of minutes. But, end up watching whole episode. The very fact that you guys bring artistes too on table to discuss is heartening. i would like to see the likes of Rasika Duggal, Swara Bhasker, Zeeshan Ayub, Pankaj Tripathi, Adil Hussain and few others revealing their process. These are the people to be discussed about and with. Hope you consider this request. Vivek, Writer Mysuru

I'm completely at a loss to understand how you can look at Konkona and not be inspired to write for her, or put her at the heart of what you create. And I believe it is our loss, the audience's loss, that she doesn't get her own The Piano Teacher or Three colours: Red or Late Spring or Revolutionary Road or Carol or A Streetcar named Desire. She is what dreams are made of.

Ratna Patha Shah is so disgusted by the fact that she is still battling the same issues even now. And this isn't even the first time i have seen women who have been public figures for a long time voice this fact. Goes to show how society has evolved only in the superficial "at least its better than before" way, if it has evolved at all.

The discussion about younger and older audience just made me think: will be we will progress in bounds every time an elder dies? I seriously think our parents' generation is the worst. The war-stricken generations before that and the social-media enlightened generations after that are still finding their way in the dark... Maybe if our elders die, their backwards ideologies will die with them? Maybe that's when India will learn the difference between Heritage and Culture. That heritage needs to preserved and documented while culture needs to adapt with society. That most patriotism is actually xenophobia. Maybe some of us will also realize that most "Indian cultures" are not even Indian to begin with. Maybe history will be taught in a better way. Maybe old Hindu Kamasutra relics wont be concealed or destroyed. Maybe people will learn that it was the Mughals who told us to cover our women and then the British who told us to not have too much sex. In no way am I saying that islamic and anglo influences are anti-national but maybe it will make people think why the most hateful misogynistic comments left on youtube are usually of accounts with a muslim name. Maybe people will finally learn that even Britain itself has progressed from their high collar colonial days where women were not even allowed to show ankle skins while India has adapted it as its own and still ignorantly tries to cling to it... Haters gonna hate. Potatoes gonna potate.

One of the best conversations on liberating views of women in cinema, within India. Enlightening to listen to Ratna Pathak, Koko, Alankrita and Anupama. So glad that these women together, believe that things can still get better in the Indian film industry, which unfortunately has had its fill of male jingoism. Also, there has never been a better time for Indian cinema to get experimental, especially with the fledging youth in #India and the equally important and global landscape changing #women in India. Exploring the sexual fantasies of women through a movie like this, will go a long way in breaking the glass ceiling and contribute towards more movie makers taking up #womencentric subjects.

Wow! This was such a great interview. Feels so good to hear such talented people speak their heart out so candidly on actual troublesome issues, and yet not make that an excuse to not succeed or perform better! 'Lipstick under my Burkha' is an important film, purely because this is a sort of silent war between films with good, intellectual yet risky content versus the narrow mindedness of the censorboard and the 'sanskari hypocritical' public who are ready to throw stones at films in a split second. Also, we do need more female directors and storytellers in India as well. I almost saw a whole new world of the same world I see through a woman's perspective. Sometimes, female perspective on certain issues are far more superior and handled well than us males! It's refreshing and unique. As a film buff, I look forward to it.
