The best film ever, my son is 3 and it’s been 4 months since diagnosed diabetes 1st type and he likes going balance bike most of all. Hope he has a big future! Everyone should watch this film, just in case to know that diabetes is not an illness it’s way of life, great as well as hard life to achieve the results you want
Now finished it and left me wanting more. Great insight into the life of a Type 1 athlete and also how brutal sport is sometimes. What an amazing team and an example for those young kids who can now see someone like them doing the things that they maybe didn’t believe was possible. Amazing.
Just saw this video now and feel really good and motivated afterwards! I was diagnosed Diabetes Type 1 at the age of 4. Since a few years I'm also deeply into (road) cycling and riding between 4-5k kilometers every year. It's just nice to see that it's even possible to ride on such a professionel level with this disease - so nothing is impossible! Good luck for you in the upcoming seaons and keep on r1ding!
Excellent documentary, fuels me up as I am preparing for my own endurance challenges with T1. That is a very very accurate depiction of our daily struggles with this condition, everyday. So heartwarming , and so great. I'll keep this in my playlist! Congrats on the achievements
Recently gotten into road cycling and the long high intensity club rides make it very hard for me to have a decent blood sugar. Crazy how these guys can go through all the stages of the TDF AND place well!
As a T1D who got to ride with the UK NovoNordisk guys and TNN ex pro Justin I was really looking forward to watching this, and its great. Hope to one day see you back in the UK at the ToB. A great program and thanks to all the team who keep me inspired even in my older years.
Just watching this and had to comment on the opening elements. Charles Planet was shown really disappointed after the race and really felt for him as he is so determined to get that first professional win. But what I would love to say to Charles is that he and the team win everyday, the team inspired me to get back on a road bike and just this weekend I completed 62km for first time and more importantly fuelled correctly so my sugars stayed stable. So every time you ride you win for all of us Type 1s and it’s so much more than just the finish line.❤
That is absolutely wonderful to hear! Thank you so much for sharing your story and for your lovely words to Charles and the team 💙 This is what Team Novo Nordisk is all about!
Great film! I am T1D and love cycling. I have learned a lot of things of their experience. They are all truly champions of life! No limits, keep going!
I have a question: my life as an amateur cyclist (road and mtb) evolved very quickly and soon I started consuming all that stuff from gold nutrition. today at the age of 43, my diabetes is escalating super fast: 6 months ago I've had 70 after wake up and last week I had 315 before lunch and about 200-250 when I wake up. my doctor says i'm going to inject insulin very soon, this weekend I went road cycling (80kms trip) and i had cramps for the first time in my life, I screamed, I had to stop, I couldn't hold on in any position, after 10 min I started pedaling again. how can I prevent cramps and is it possible for me to eat gold nutrition stuff?
Thank you for sharing your experience. I recommend that you contact your own Health Care Professional (HCP) to get guidance and help. If you don't feel well, you should always contact your HCP immediately. Take care and all the best, Stine, Novo Nordisk
I am a little confused by this. These are professional athletes sponsored by a major insulin manufacturer. Having been diabetic for 25 years it fathoms me that these guys are not running dexcom systems with bluetooth transmitting to watches or phones, and no insulin pumps at all. Is this due to a UCI regulation on the team? at 57:45 the rider is asking the team car if they have a glucose meter, and they didnt!?!?
While Team Novo Nordisk is committed to fully supporting all our athletes in all areas, we also respect our athletes personal choices about how they manage their diabetes both in their daily lives and in a race situation. They all have access to the latest tech and the choice of how they use it, but sometimes mid race when the adrenalin and stress levels are high an athlete will come back to one of two team support vehicles for a manual reading. We travel with a team doctor to every race we do, often the case is - as in this instance in the film at Milan - Sanremo - that there are two team support vehicles in the race. One of which carry’s a glucose meter and the team doctor. The moment in the film is from the breakaway in Milan - Sanremo in 2021 and the second team car with only one sports Director and mechanic is obliged to follow the breakaway and the first car with the team doctor (and glucose meter) stays behind the main peloton. Once the breakaway is over and the race regroups then the first car was able to give the athlete (Charles Planet) a reading.
Wow, what a kick in the pants of those of us with no excuses! What are the riders putting in their noses when they are on the trainers at about 40 minutes in? Like Tiger V, this makes me want to knock years of dust off of my road bike.
Do it 🚴♂️💨 👏 It is cotton wool with eucalyptus. It helps to open the airways before a TT (time-trial) so they can pedal full speed ahead! Thanks for watching! Iben, Novo Nordisk
Good Film, thanks, 🙏. I am also diabetic, type 1. I love biking. My first my ride was 5km, and now i can make 200km per day. In my RU-vid channel i also make films about my riding and competitions. I want to be a part of your team. How i can do it?
Dear Vadym, Thanks for your comment and for watching the film. You can find more information about the Team and how to join here: www.teamnovonordisk.com/join/ All the best, Scott / Novo Nordisk
This video looks to be a year old. I just hope that this team is not using Libre and pen corrections anymore. There are stuff out there (iAPS, AAPS) that is far more advance and are used by sportsman. A semi/automated solution would mean a much easier management.

Wonderful docu about wonderful riders, their team and people who support and understand them. As an avid road rider and father of T1 child I can get close enough to the mindset of a diabetic cyclists and their struggles. Really inspiring video. Wish I could be a part of that team or somehow better participate in helping understand the diabetes. Lets educate and find the cure! @novonordisk
