The track is pretty much an ice rink all year, definitely the least grippy TeamSport track I've been on. It does improve on members nights but you still need decent control of the kart 😅
@@RBRacing55 i’ve gone regularly and it’s dependent on local temperature, track surface (it is mostly slippy concrete) and how new the tyres are. Not quite sure on the logistics but it’s less slippy on the wooden section and less slippery than Dunstable which i’ve also been to with me cousins
@@RBRacing55 again, top floor is all wooden so no surprises there, a lot of fun that track because of the slippy and dark ground floor, feels like drifting at night, and then the upper floor is a grippy F1 experience
Best is Preston all gripped up as upper two floors wood deck. Lower slippery floor concrete Combat karts. BUT Nottingham karts are better as they do not have the engine cut out switch on brake pedal. @@RBRacing55
I will say, having raced with karts on the 4th speed setting, its an entirely different experience from setting 3. So much so that I would hold off judgement until you get an opportunity to race on speed 4.
Yeah I didn't wanna give my full view on them against petrol until I've tried the 4th speed setting as its not fair to compare petrol and electric if the electric karts aren't at full power 😅
Throttle on e-motors has something called "resolution" which you can kind of imagine as the values between 0-1 (on and off) and most of these karts have really bad resolution, maybe 2-3 steps between on and off so it takes a lot of the right pedal work away. You can get better throttles and controllers, but they are very expensive.
We are booked on for members night tonight we booked a while bk, just to try out the electric karts but after watching this most of the lads want to change the booking to Sheffield and get as many in there before they go electric
Tbf if you go in with the mind just to have fun, you will. But I can also fully understand that these karts just aren't as quick as their petrol counterparts and a big track like Sheffield will definitely feel the slowness of electric karts 😬
As a group we are all gutted everywhere is going electric We gonna have to double our costs and go pfi and elk We thought we had found a gem with teamsports with their pricing and members benefits Just need to make sure we go as much as possible before it all goes electric Gonna be a sad day when sheff goes electric We from notts but we ride down sheff more than notts anyway
Surprised they aren’t quicker than that (I understand they were on a lower setting). We did nottingham a month ago in the petrol karts and was running low 34 second laps
i went on the first night with EKarts at Nottingham but timing was not working so hard to judge but felt maybe 2 secs a lap slower.... how did your fastest petrol lap compare? 😊
My fastest petrol lap was a 32.8 so quite a bit faster than these karts. Though it would be interesting to see what the times will be like once they're at speed 4 on Thursday nights 😅
@@RBRacing55 Does it means since that day after the kart will stay at speed 4 right? I went there the second day the changed electric kart and the lap time dropped like 3 seconds compared to old kart...and the tires are so slippery lmao
@@Nicks_karting there's no real very hard braking points at Nottingham tbf, it's mostly just a stab of the brakes and either lift or back on power. Just takes practice tbf like with any track!
@@RBRacing55 is there not? We were all told in the briefing that we needed to brake in certain points on the track with a bit of force. I do think it was me trying to implement my braking technique at Cardiff into the electric karts as well though
How long do the batteries like? Like if you did a Thursday members event, how long would the batteries last in one go as at Newcastle with the Sodi karts, they can last 30 mins if we do speed 3 and 20 mins on speed 4
Newcastle are the only track so far to have all Sodi electric karts and compared to Biz, they are awful. Many people have complained about them and TS are losing a lot of members. They used to be almost full every week but now barely anyone are doing it
I don’t know what the Biz electric karts are like but people say that they are a lot better. What’s also annoying is that we have the Combat Karts which doesn’t help and just ruins the track layout. Newcastle was brilliant before the track changed. Now it’s boring, no skill required and doesn’t present a challenge
@@RBRacing55ikr its so sad cause petrol karts just feel way more consistent and i just like their handling and the sound because it creates an atmosphere but it is what it is.
