He offered to speak at both conventions, only the republicans accepted. It's not his job to be beholden to any party. It's his job to work for his workers and work with both sides, good on him.

An amazing speech. I am for unions but would never trust trumpites to keep a promise to workers. Please deliver this speech again at the democratic convention. Workers do need to be put first.

Respect! Phenomenal speech and executed passionately. Especially LOVE that he didn’t endorse and instead used his position to firmly let ALL know that Teamsters are for America and no longer for individual parties. It shows he has moral character! It would have been disrespectful for him to voice an endorsement using his position without a majority of his union brothers.

This guy is playing the GOP for his union. He is telling them that he expects the GOP to fully support unions. He warns them that If they do not show support for unions, he will pull the union support. He will probably give the same speech if invited to speak at the DNC.

Do you remember last year when Biden walked the picket lines with the Teamsters and what did Trump do? He went a couple blocks away hired some non-union people to hold some signs so I got a few questions about the Teamsters this year and Donald Trump.

An undoubtedly phenomenal speech by Sean O’Brien, General President of the Teamsters union. I loved the fact he said I don’t care if you have a D or and R against your name, I just want to know what you are going to do for the American worker. One could see vast parts of his speech Trump and others on the podium did not agree with, but I’m glad he had the chance to speak out in prime time on a Party’s platform who have rarely supported or agreed with unions; in fact, as the General President acknowledged they have been openly hostile, but 1.3 million workers cannot be ignored. This well enunciated, well-articulated speech by Mr. O’Brien spoke about companies being worth $2 trillion dollars (bigger than many national economies) but provide no real health insurance, retirement benefits or paid leave. I suspect Mr. O’Brien probably realises he won’t get his demands from the Republican Party in power, only Joe Biden speaks about the importance of unionised job and unions, but all in all undoubtedly this will be the best speech of the RNC Conference. I commend and salute you sir, you’re a tribute to your union and an excellent choice for General President.

Between the end of the Chevron Doctrine, GOP right to work states, GOP having multiple plans to end, cut or privatize Social Security and Medicare and GOP Supreme Court legalizing non compete clauses, how does voting for Trump or any Republican not do major damage to workers, unions and the right to organize or complain in general?

I hope the message that Shawn O'Brien put out wasn't misinterpreted as support for Donald Trump. Trump has repeatedly promised to pass Federal Right to work Legislation and appoint more anti labor judges who will undermine Union Labor. Not to mention the Heritage Foundation's 2025 game plan that Trump will absolutely follow. A 140 work month with no overtime.
