On the one hand it sounds like crap, but then it also sounds, which indicates it's not actually dead. Do you have a signal injector/tracer where you can try and determine where the problem is? Failing that, even just some contact cleaner like Deoxit on the input and output jacks may fix it. If all else fails, sell it to a thrash metal band as an effects box.
