I'm not sure if you know this already, but with Impress batteries, place the battery into the charger waiting for the steady red light to say "charging". Once the red light illuminates, remove the battery and then reinsert it. The light should change to steady orange and this will start a manual recondition cycle. The battery will be fully charged, then fully discharged, then fully charged. The initial charge makes sure the battery is as full as it can be - then the discharge cycle lets the system calculate the remaining capacity. The battery is then fully charged so that it is ready to use. Depending on the battery, it can take around 12 hours to complete the recondition process. Thanks for the video, I'll have to split some of the spent batteries apart that I have at work - I'd like a closer look at the Impress boards one day.

I did not know that, that's a good tip - thanks! That would be good project for 3D printer to make enclosure that can be filled with standard 18650 Li-Ion (even larger back) one day i will have check chines replacement, what they have to offer in term of non impress battery.

@@ElectronicNoobBlog When a battery gets so weak that the charger won't charge them (flashing red light), just keep inserting the battery. Insert - Red flashing light Insert - Red flashing light Insert - Red flashing light Eventually, the small burst of voltage that the charger puts out before going to red flashing light will sometimes bring the battery voltage up to the point where the charger will continue charging. Let it charge if it wants to - Let the cycle complete. Red flashing light? Remove and then re-insert. Don't give it any space. Don't give it a break. Once the battery has a half decent charge, put it on a radio and flatten it, then immediately re-charge. During the the recharge, remove and reinsert for re-condition. The above is desperate - it may not work if the battery is REALLY at the end of its life - But if the battery is going to E-waste, you might as well try.

Just like Motorola - make the battery crazy complex to FORCE customers to buy new ones from them. They could just use off-the-shelf 18650 batteries to make life easy for customers.

they offer a battery pack accessory you could use that uses aa batteries instead

Check the video from nokiaman2022: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-74nFUTDh6Lo.html If you apply 8.4v @ 0.100 - 0.150 amps to the positive and negative terminals on the battery, sometimes you can get just enough power into the BMS controller circuitry to allow the chargers to start reading them and charging them again.

Thanks for info, I already tried that (recharging using radio contacts) and I also have non impress chines charger for that cases to leave overnight. I had feeling I make video about it since I recover DP3441e battery that was left for couple days switched "on" - it work to this day :) Take care!

Just recieved a box of 30 of them, i've only tested 5 and all of them are flashing red. Any tips on how to fix them? They have never been used. They were backups that were going to be thrown away because of the issue.

I bought a second-hand DP4801 that came with a dodgy PMN44009BR (Impres) battery. I was in a rush to get out of the seller's house, as it was more than a little Unsettling (straight out of a Horror film. Was dirty as hell and the seller looked to have health issues that I didn't want to catch) and just wanted out of there. He advertised a few of them but I only found one after having digged through several boxes that he couldn't access physically. The battery refused to work (red flashes) after 30mins of trying, so re-dig through other boxes and found another battery (after another 30mins) that only faired marginally better after 30mins of messing around. Got a solid red after 20mins on charge, enough for me to Risk the purchase. On get it home and it Failed to charge Note: that the Inner battery pads gave me a 3.8v reading on a multimeter Messed about looking for Videos that gave me the Idea to "Bump a voltage to the rear contacts". I found that you can get about 4.5v between the 2nd (positive) and 4th (negative) prongs (from the left) of the Impres charger, that I attached to the 1st (negative) and 4th (positive) pads (from the left). Had to try this several times and it kinda worked once to get a solid red charge light but still wouldn't charge the battery (defaulting back to flashing red), even after it was on the "Bump voltage" for 2mins. Tried a 6v/500mah adapter several times and that was enough to make the Impres charger happy to give it a Full charge overnight. It powered it up (69% service life in the Battery menu) and I tried to run it out but on Empty it Failed to charge, defaulting back to flashing red in the Impres charger. I found my Desktop power-supply and tried the same process at 6v, 7.2v (recommended 6-8v but as high as 10v in another video) but I had to "Bump" it to 8.8v at 1amp (yes a full amp, not 100ma) for the best part of 1min to get it to accept enough current that it would then start to charge in the Impres charger. When it started, it went solid red for about 5mins, solid Orange (good sign I hope) for a bit (not sure how long as I was watching more videos), now I am ust waiting for it to Complete the reconditioning on the Impres charger. Fingers crossed

Thank you please can tell me what impres battery meaning

Impress have built in micro controller and measure battery capacity, charge, discharge, count cycles - by all of that it can simply tell You that battery need to be thrown away because it's worn out - that make sense for any public safety organization where someone life depend on radio being operational through shift without any unexpected shutdown. If You don't need that - You can live without impress technology.

hello, I wanted to know if there is a Methods to regenerate these batteries for dp4400 I am waiting for your repence
@ElectronicNoobBlog
@ElectronicNoobBlog 3 года назад
If You ask for opening it and replacing cells - I would say no. Cheaper to get non- Impress replacement.

Is there a device who can regenerate the batteries ? to avoid opening the whole battery
@ElectronicNoobBlog
@ElectronicNoobBlog 3 года назад
@@ismahanerefsi888 Regenerate - not. If battery was overly discharged and PCB protection kick in - You can try revive it by applying DC voltage directly to terminals that interface with radio - i done it couple times with great success (it work only if cells inside are good, and radio was just turn on and discharge to moment when charger don't recognize it and don't start charging cycle. If cells are bad - it won't work. Li-Ion don't suffer from memory effect so there is no need to recondition them like on NiCads.
