I collect the gilsons as well as the Gilson built wards and I built a pulling tractor out of one of my 14hp variable speed tractors I saved from the junkyard. It’s a stock tractor other than some modifications I made to add wheelie bars, weight brackets, and a handful of pulling accessories, it’s definitely not a competition in Tractor but it’s very fun to play around with! Thank you for showing how you built this tractor as I’m looking to build a second pulling tractor out of one of my other gilsons, but instead of using the stock Briggs I had the idea of diesel swapping it with a two cylinder Kubota diesel out of a G4200. My biggest problem was finding a way to replace the peerless rear end with a cub rear end as that peerless would have a very rough time taking the power of the diesel. Since you showed the way you made yours, it makes a lot more sense on how I have to do it!
AS a former gokart racer, I assume you have to use pump gas. Naturally in karts, that was the case but many went to great lengths to dump nitro. Many tracks dumped fuel from all carts into a tank and then fueled them asthey went out on the track. Like I said many went to great lengths to develop systems to "dump" nitro. That being said, what type of tech is used to monitor displacement, stroke, etc.?
Sorry for the delay- That’s interesting how they mixed all the fuel together. They use a pump to measure displacement on OHV engines but flatheads have to be torn down and measured
I done garden tractor pulling for 3 years had a Sears custom. With a 8 hp Briggs on it built I pulled the 700 and 800 and the 900 lb class I was number 1 in my class
My children and I are working on getting into the lawn tractor puller sport. Having a hard time finding tractors to build. Any suggestions on how to get someone to donate some tractors
It’s locked away in the trailer for the foreseeable future, but you are the second person to ask so I will do it. Make sure you subscribe and click the bell- whatever that’s for- so you will see it.
@@mikeburgan7675 I’d look up the North Central Garden Tractor Pullers. If they don’t cover your area then they will likely be able to point you in the right direction. Watch some videos, go to some pulls, go meet some people. I think you’ll like it
