I used to build those rears at Frankland Race Supply. You shouldn't have to mark where the bells go because the bolt holes are in a pattern that they can only go on one way. I worked with the legendary Fred Bratchie. Learnt alot from him

Oh yeah I know I just do that for simplicity of putting them back together

So was the rearend used or new? The reason is, I've seen articles and have heard rearend rebuilds that suggest replacing the ring gear and pinion in a used after a couple seasons. Even if it appears too look fine. Of course, this is just what I understood and I would believe that it would have more too do with how many laps are on the rearend. How hard it has been used. Whether or not the rearend grease was run low, or if it had taken a hard shot from another car or from hitting the wall.

The ring and pinion only have about 25 races since it was replaced. We run fairly low amount of HP compared to what most of those articles refer to that’s why we feel the ring and pinion will be okay. Mostly we have had problems in the past with the spool stripping out. Due to rough tracks contact ect.

Looks like u know what you’re doing!! Inside of diff. definitely is built a bit tougher then my 50’s and 60’ chevys lol. What would a complete diff set up like that cost u in your neck off the woods???

Thanks Ike! They’re built withstand a lot of abuse for sure. You’re looking at $2-3,000 depending on options for complete rearend.
