This is my favorite Christmas song and I have never heard it performed with more conviction, passion and faith before. This is a very powerful, spiritual song that should be and performed in a way to honor the birth of Christ the Savior, as this man did, and not merely entertain.

I have always thought O Holy Night was a beautiful song. However, it takes a great voice to do it justice. David is the best I have heard sing it.

It’s not him as a person, but he’s so filled with the Holy Spirit when he sings that it just oozes out onto everyone else. He’s so anointed by God!

The Holy Spirit was in that auditorium that night. David Phelps was incredible. I can't watch him sing O Holy Night without crying joyful tears!

there are so many artists who cover this song, and they do a good job but none of them move me to tears the way David Phelp's does. How it must have been to be in that room, with that voice and all that power and belief flowing through it.

That performance is 21 years old and people are still talking about it. Best vocal tenor of my lifetime without question, and I got to see him perform it live not long ago. One of the best days of my life.

The guy on the piano, his name is Anthony Burger and is passed away for some years now but is still my favorite pianist!!!! Can you imagine what Heaven sounds like with Anthony playing the piano????

I cant watch this (and I have watched it A LOT) without the goosebumps, the tears, the overwhelming feeling of the spirit, it must have been amazing to be there. He is a gifted singer. The singer is David Phelps. The pianist is the late great Anthony Burger. Bill Gaither is the older man bringing David back out to acknowledge the applause at the end. Bill's wife Gloria is the blonde lady with her hands raised at minute 5:15. Bill and Gloria are both in the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame. They are legendary songwriters in the field of gospel music. Bill has put on a series of Homecoming Concerts over the last three decades featuring stars and legends of gospel music. He also sings with the Gaither Vocal Band, of which David Phelps was formerly a member.

Mark Lowry, the man who wrote Mary Did You Know and you recently watched the video of that song with Voctave, was there also. He was sitting behind David in the black suit with the red shirt. He also was a member of the Gaither Vocal Band at one time.

Not to take away from David Phelps because he is a wonderful singer. But also please give credit to his pianist. His name is Anthony Burger. Unfortunately Mr. Burger is no longer on this earth.

It was, in fact, a spiritual gathering. Bill & Gloria Gaither are song writers and singers. About 30 years ago Bill started bringing all the Southern Gospel Singers together for "Homecoming Concerts". They performed across the US, Canada, going as far as Israel. Bill also organized The Gaither Vocal Band, basically a quartet of phenominal voices ... look for "Let Freedom Ring", recorded after 9/11 at Carnegie Hall. David Phelps graduated from Baylor Univeristy with a degree in opera.

On the piano was my dear friend Anthony Burger. Sadly he passed away at the age of 44 on a cruise playing for the Gaither Vocal Band. David sang with the Gaithers.

David certainly has a gift from GOD. The Pianist was also gifted by our Holy God. These two men are" instruments, used of GOD to proclaim HIS GOSPEL"!!!!! Listen to the song David wrote "The end of the beginning". WOW! It is also most powerful! GOD Bless you!

Maybe because the singing was so beautiful with the arrangement, but I believe it's because you are hearing the holy spirit through David's voice.

David Phelps sings with many almost equals in the Gaither group of concerts that ran over about 50 years, and still continue. The men that often sing with him do not disappoint.

David is part of The Gaither Vocal Band. They are a southern gospel singing group. Behind him is a lot of his southern gospel singing peers. I have been to several of their concerts. There are several on RU-vid titled Gaither Home Coming. Check them out.

You should play Mary did you know by Mark Lowery. He sings with the Gaithers too. I love the Gaithers and all those who sing with them. They have been around along time. There will never be another version of this, my favorite, for me. Gaither family is a Church based in Mobile Alabama USA. "a church community focused on creating God-centered families" David could have made millions in recording contracts, but chose to sing for the lord. (The piano player, I have read on other reactions has since passed away). How can one not be moved, if not by the Grace of God then by David's beautiful voice. His daughter also sings for the Gaither Family. I am not deeply religious, but I keep God in my heart. Great reaction 😎
