I am amazed by this rendition. So heartfelt and so beautiful. This is a song that should really be sung by a woman, and Carina Round sings it as if it was written for her. But the most amazing thing for me, is that Roland Orzabal wrote this when he was a teenager. A teenager! A song so deep and true, so timeless, written by teenage Roland. It just goes to show what an immense talent Roland is. He started off - right from the very beginning of TFF - as an excellent song writer who was wise beyond his years. And even now, at 60 years old, he is still writing wonderful songs full of insight, meaning and feeling. The Tipping Point is a masterful album. Thanks DeadMike for recording this.
This was an amazing performance. I love the reinterpretation of the song. When she sings and emotes "But the pain of birth, what is it worth?" I get chills. When I saw this in Phoenix, I didn't know what I was seeing. Subsequently, I saw Lauren Evans perform this in Indy. Absolutely beautiful voice and sang the song wonderfully. Carina Round's emotional interpretation of the song, however, makes it much more gut wrenching in my opinion. So happy Roland and Curt decided to have a woman sing it this way live.
My late friend, Michael jindra, who was such a kind soul yet troubled by the most evil demons, turned me on to this gorgeous album way back in all its dark twist majestic glory. This song is for him as it described him well. Addiction is evil.... love someone as hard as you can while they are here. God bless, Michael.
@@chrisparker5356 I think it is since Roland and Curt aren't singing lead but I guess you can argue that since she's in the band it isn't a cover. When Bee Gees sing Islands in The Stream is it a cover or not? Not sure, they wrote the song but aren't the ones known for recording.
