I was going through the hardest time.. I was 16 and been arrested 13 x times… I was kicked out of my home and moved away to stay with my step brother and his lovely Mum, who looked after me like I didn’t believe. She saved me from prison and a life of horror. Showed me love and this album was my salvation in my room. Powerful stuff. More than I can express. Thank you for this album. Famous last words is just out of this world and I’m happy to say I can now play it on the piano. I have three children and I’m not dead…
I hear ya. I was a teen in the 70's and went into my 20's in the 80's. Great music. So much better than this stuff today. Back then there were real musicians playing instruments. Not this computerized/synthesized crap they call music today.
Amen to that clinton , me to , so great stuff days of tears , simple minds u2 , ub40 , frankie , madness the cure , and many more and even bros , great days
I couldn't agree more. I was about to write a comment, only to see that everyone has already written everything that needs to be said about this masterpiece. And it's a song that has even more relevance today, as we witness in anger and utter disbelief what cowardly men are doing to women in Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, and pretty much everywhere else in some form - even here in Australia. Toxic masculinity is a scourge we all need to eradicate with all our might. Roland and Curt were very young when they composed this work of art, they were light-years ahead of their time. What I would give to hear them perform live in concert in Adelaide one day! Stay strong, everyone, embrace, support, accept and love the women around you and the woman in you!
Im 51 and I hear old folks talk like this.....and you are wrong. There are still great songs coming out. Maybe you listening to the wrong stuff. But we agree, this is just an amazing song. Absolutely loved it then and still do.
Roland is, in my opinion one of the greatest male vocalists ever. I love his powerful voice. And signing With Oleta, oh my! it’s just incredibly beautiful.
In my humble opinion this has gotta be the greatest track from tears for fears, in fact one of the greatest tracks from any rock group, and with the addition of Olita Adams stunning vocals, timeless classic, bravo.
I lived through this era. How i loved those times. This takes me back with emotions of loss, happiness, youth, dreams, and aspirations. Such a beautiful song.
In 1985, Adams was discovered by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, founders of the English band Tears for Fears, while she was performing in a hotel bar in Kansas City, Missouri, while they were on a US tour. Two years later, they contacted her to invite her to join their band as a singer and pianist on their next album, The Seeds of Love.
I'd be honored if some fans of late 80s/early 90s classics would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of HEAVEN HELP ME by Deon Estus & George Michael and GET HERE IF YOU CAN by Oleta Adams on my YT channel in tribute to the era. Live acoustic with no autotune. Peace & stay safe.
I am really glad i found it on RU-vid!!!
This remains for me one of the best songs ever. It builds beautifully and is so full of light and dark tones and makes me feel emotional every time I hear it. Awesome.
When Oleta Adams hits the high note at 2:47, it brings Tears To The Eyes ............ a magnificent song performed by a magnificent troupe ..... thank you, always.
I bought The Seeds of Love a few years after it came out and was blown away by the quality of the songs. This song, in particular, has haunted me for years. What a masterpiece.
In fact, this song is a masterpiece! I was delighted with it in 1989 and now this song still touches my heart. Even the youth of today like it! So it's a phenomenon!🤩
Thank God that Curt and Roland happened into that bar at the Hyatt Regency in Kansas City, Missouri while on tour, and experienced this talented artist's performance. Otherwise, we'd never have been treated to this beautiful masterpiece.
@@thomascunningham2919 Equally beautiful I reckon... we know, Curt knows it too. Written all over his face lol. I would love to hear his take . What a song either way. Oleta IS awesome.
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9c0vaf3oK40.html Very well done!
Curt & Roland... I cannot express the gratitude i feel for you both for having made my life a better experience. Being a source of happiness, inspiration, support and comfort. You two are eternal and occupy a big and important part in the history of music, culture and, specially, many lives all over Earth. Simply... thank you. 💓💓💓💓💓💓
Turn off the lights, sit in/on your favourite spot - and play/repeat 3 times... You hear something new in the melodies every time. Beautiful song. Timeless.
AMAZING ALBUM,one of my faves.Imagine this is 32 years old . The tunes on this album are incredible at a higher volume coming through a set of high end speakers !
march 25, 2020 where the whole world battling COVID19 this song makes me relax and forgot all problem we are facing right now..God pls Heal Our Land! 🙏
I was born in 2000, but I'm grateful that I was raised by my dad listening every day this immortal songs. For you all of my age, never let this legends die
I'm born in 1954, and I love all the music of tears for fears, they are the must better group before the beatles, and Roland is a very, very good musician and singer, with Curt, they are very, very best duo of the british group. I love this wave music, Roland anf Curt are the Best of wave music. Tanks for all. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍤👍
An utterly beautiful song from one of the most under rated bands of all time. I saw them touring this album in 1990, and it was a fantastic concert. Pure talent!
I saw this tour .. the concert was amazing... oleta Adam appearing in silhouette at a grand piano...even the pre concert tape they played while the audience was being seated ‘Women of Ireland’.. the attention to detail... yes! they are severely underrated .. huge talents!
Oleta Adams has a beautiful, sweet and powerful voice. She's a very talented singer, the perfect choice to sing this music together with Tears for Fears.
My goodness me ,it is incredible two wonderful people in the field of Music on one stage , you can't get any music like that anymore , you have a blessed talent ,THANK YOU ALL .
Wow...rediscovering Tears for Fears. Love their new music, and enjoying listening to their older music. Still just as great and relevant today as it was years ago. So good.
When I first heard this track I too thought it was awesome and would become the classic it has. It just sends chills through me now just as it did when I first heard it. The addition of Olita Adams is just genius, such a Great Voice alongside Roland. Just great.😃👍🏻
