Two months and 20,000+ views later, TEARS has never been more important to my life, my progression as a man and a father, and as a music artist. So importantly put - it speaks to a world where generationally we are being told to suppress our emotions, ignore our anger, disregard our pain, and silencing the speaking of our own truth while taking the punches of life and told to move on, that we will get our peace, our praise, and our flowers when we are being buried in a pine box in the dirt. And society, has helped to cultivate an existence where especially as men, our feelings, our emotions, and our tears have no place to be on display or accepted. More than 800,000 people commit suicide every year, with over 650,000 of those being men. There are 150,000,000 homeless in the world, with over 120,000,000 being men. Over 11,000,000 men incarcerated in the prison system, well over 90% of the global prison population. Over 70% of fathers in divorced or split homes with a child or children don't have custody of their children, and or don't get to participate in their children's lives. All of this means that this cycle will only continue, and only continue to get worse for future generations. Our sons. Our brothers. Our nephews and uncles and cousins and grandsons.... The issue will continue until there is nothing left if we let that cycle continue. It starts with allowing yourself to feel. It starts with looking at these cycles and finding what works for you to break the cycle. It starts with feeling safe being able to speak about OUR traumas and our pains and our hurt and do so with human equality and a sense of compassion. It's about lifting each others up - especially each other in our male communities. Including holding each other accountable, helping raise another man up, helping to show another man a better way, or simply helping a man feel valued beyond the support or protection he may provide. It starts with letting go and finding ways to let go of things that are holding us back, entrapping us from mental and emotional freedom. It's about cultivating a relationship with ourselves, with our brothers and sons and fathers and friends, and about putting a renewed focus on our relationship with God and doing so daily, and living and leading with love. Those tears do not make you weak. It just means you can feel. And if you can feel, then you can heal, and if you can heal, you can reconnect with love. And when you can love, you can find the light in some of the darkest situations and be a light to others that helps inspire and change other hearts. You Matter. You're Loved. The woman who i thought was the love of my life left me a few days ago ive cried myself to sleep every night since i work where we met and everyday a different person asks how she is and i tell them its like reliving the break up over and over im a kitchen manager and went out of state with my ex prior to the break up after when i got back and she broke up with me a food rep showed up and was happy to see me she hugged me and asked me how i was i told her i was good and everything was going great after we talked i went to the restroom and cried she's the only person to have hugged me since my ex i feel so weak and so broken and tired im tired of pretending that everythings ok but i have no other choice running and music are the only things that get me through the day
I'm terribly sorry about the breakup. I've gone through painful splits before that felt like I was reliving them over and over. In those times, it's so important to remember that you had a life before this person and you have a life after this person. The grief is okay and human. Feel all that you need to feel but don't stay there. So much of our pain and grief in something ending is that we often create a future (especially in a relationship) and we attach ourselves to that expectation and outcome, and when it doesn't happen, we grieve the loss of the here and now and the loss of all the future we contemplated or imagined or planned. Try to stay rooted in the present, looking on what was with gratitude for the experience and that the connection you did share mattered while it was there. Start pouring love and attention into yourself right now and falling in love with the process of healing and growing and embracing this journey. The heartache does subside and you can and will find peace and happiness and joy in this life once you've been able to process and heal from this. I read what prompted you to write the song in 2023, and I like seeing a person step away from the lies we are told constantly, like "don't cry," so healing can begin. I have been sober for 11 years, thank God, and one of the things I had to learn to do was walk through fear ... any fear that causes me to be less than I was created to be. One of the best lessons I have learned is that I no longer have to protect an image, especially a false image or expectation that someone else has set up for me!
