A lot of successor games coming out. Suikoden's Eiyuden Chronicles, Shadow Hearts' Penny Blood, Wild Arms' Armed Fantasia, and now Breath of Fire with Tears of Magic.

I always get a smile when people who miss neglected series, just say "fine, I'll do it myself." Looks neat, very much in line w BoF 3 and 4.

I love the Breath of Fire series and am glad someone else felt strongly enough about it that they wanted to make more games like them. With the apparent success of Eiyuden Chronicle others are being inspired to create new games in the style of past favorites that have more or less died out. I'm all for it since I love Japanese Role-Playing games so much. The animation in this trailer looks pretty bad, but with more time in the oven this could turn out to be what retro JRPG enthusiasts crave.

I played BoF 3 when i was 8-9 years old and this doesnt even look close to it

@@VapeLoop I disagree. Just a quick glance will tell you that this game was inspired by Breath of Fire. The blue haired hero, color palette, anthropomorphic beast man, the slime @2:55 was copied straight from BoF. Even if the graphics and animations look like doodoo in this trailer, it's clear they are emulating BoF.

Wow stumbled upon this somehow. Can’t wait to play it. I’d definitely buy it on steam. I just hope those cvnts at Capcom don’t ruin it much linen Square Enix did to Chrono Trigger: Crimson echoes.

Just now learning about this! I have been waiting for someone to make a proper spiritual successor to the breath of fire games for years! Wake up Capcom! Tears of magic is definitely going to be what breath of fire 6 should’ve been.

Binge watching overlord at the moment. Anybody notice Brain Unglaus looks like a dead ringer for Ryu? Man I wish Capcom would wake up and see there are still fans who want a legit resurrection.

Hope rocket knight adventures gets a spiritual successor soon as well. Also very happy to see a breath of fire inspired successor, grew up with the 3rd game.

Armed fantasia, penny blood, ziyuden Chronicle, tears of magic. The 4 saga that I wanted the return of.... I don't believe my eyes (well.... Tears of magic is occidental.... But hey.... On day it will be the true team... One day....)

Its basically more breath of fire in the style of 3. Whats NOT to like lol. Looks great. If you read the kickstarter details there is also some pretty cool unique stuff they are doing with the combat like combining physical attacks with spells to turn a regular attack into a fire sword attack kinda thing as well as lots of other details. Sounds great!

In order to make a story that works, one needs to take and break down many past stories to make their own. Because it worked before. Thats just how things are. 70% of who we are comes from external influence. The originality you're talking about is but a lie.
