Yeah, I'm using the Tech 21 as my amp here, but not at the end but right after my distortion pedals. This also me to use my delays and reverb in stereo.
Guitar geek here! Awesome! Thanks for putting this video up! I’m looking to decide which character series pedal to use as my amp in a box to play my pedals through direct to a powered PA speaker and now I think I know which one. Thanks again!
Superb sounds -the most tasteful I have heard on a demo. Great pedalboard and playing too. The Tech 21 -at the settings you have -handles them brilliantly imo. Thx :)
Hi Evert! Great demo of the Tech 21, quite amazing tones are going out of this pedalboard! I have a questions someone already asked, but since you're not sure about the OCD version you're using, could you give us the serial number on the bottom if it's still readable? Thanks!
Hi Evert! I have find all of your music and videos amazing! Thank you for sharing this info with us! Have you ever tried the Joyo AC Tone which is supposed to be a copy of the Liverpool Tech 21?
Hello from Greece! I love your work, tasty and inspiring! Thank you! One question please: you use the Liverpool to amplify your guitar signal, right? Since you go stereo, why not 2 Liverpools at the end of the chain? Just to save money end space on the board or there is another reason for that? After the last pedal, you use DI boxes (active/passive)? Or straight to the audio interface? Thanks in advance!
The reason I think this is the best setup is because now all the distorting and compressing of the signal happens before the modulation, reverb and delay effects. The Liverpool will always distort and compress the signal a little bit, which can cause the reverbs and delays to sound a bit off. Off course you could have 2 Liverpools at the end of the chain but than you would have to set them fairly clean to keep your effects from sounding bad. I'm going straight into the interface, no DI's.
Ah ok. I saw a video by Brett Kingman and he had it at the end of his chain. I'm thinking of getting one of these or the Blonde one to put at the end of my chain so I could use it at home with my Focusrite and been for direct live as a backup to my amp or of direct is required
Great sounds man. I've been looking into a direct rig as well. The DI Box + Speaker Simulator by Maxz looks good. So on this you are just using the tech 21 pedal at end as your "amp"?
Subscribed, digging ur stuff so much. Question. 1. Does running direct through a PA comparable to an amp tone (meaning does it sound nice) 2. Could you tell me what are the pro's and cons running direct? Coz i am gonna go this route to with my AMT SS11A pre-amp. THANKS!
+Orbsee 1. It can sound nice but it does feel quite different than playing through an amp. Basically I prefer going direct if I'm playing with In Ear Monitors. If not I bring my amps. 2. Pro's are you don't have to carry your amp or amps in my case. It's convenient in small production studios where there no live room. The main con for me is that I don't like to hear my guitar sound through wedges when playing live. I like to hear my sound coming out of the amps and the rest of the band through the wedges.
Hey man, I just LOVE the sound! Its REALLY great! Btw, I dont understand a thing. You record this direct, u mean, with no amps? Because I'm a guitar player here in Brazil, and some time I cant take my Vox AC30 with me, with this pedal i can plug my rig direct to the mixing console? Thx so much! Cheers!
Absolutely Awesome. I really love your sounds. Question: Where is the Liverpool placed in the chain of effects? it is clearly before some of the time effects, and after the drives and distortions, but, not sure where... Also, have you tried it front of amp as well? if so, what are your thoughts on it? Thanks!!
It's between the Carl Martin Trem o Vibe and the Strymon El Capistan here. I think it makes sense to have the amp sim before any modulation and time based effects in a direct in scenario. I never really tried the Liverpool in front of an amp. I'm sure it could work but I have no use for it that way.
Love the setup. U got sime cool tones in there. Are you still using the Liverpool as ur direct solution or have you found something better? I am currently looking to go direct for the first time and am considering the Blonde.
I usually use the amp sims on my Universal Audio Apollo 8 interface in my studio. When I need to go direct in other studios I tend to use the Line 6 Helix. I just found out about the Atomic AmpliFirebox; that seems to be a great solution as well.
This is very helpful. You just saved me a ton of dough on a different solution. Question: How do you terminate your stereo outputs from the stereo pedals using just one Liverpool?
Congratulations from France ;-) Just two little questions : did you mod your volume pedal with a buffer or is it stock ? Do you use the tuner output or is your Boss tuner in your signal path ? Thank you !
+Anthony Lock The Ernie Ball is just a volume pedal. You can make swells with it; it takes away the attack part of your sound. Combined with a lot of reverb and delay you get that ambient sound.
wow.....thats just some more proof that pedal boards with the right components beat every "can do everything"- preamp with ease :-) Great job dude...and great playing, too
Yes and no. Sad truth is few people takes their time to really program something like an Eventide Eclipse, granted, that's not meant to be your "amp" simulador either. What I mean is no pedal will give you the algorythm complexity of a high end rack but yeah, a pedalboard like this beats the hell out of a Boss GT for instance. Then again this is a hell of a pedalboard.
i have a bit of an unrelated question... what power supply are you you using? i'm desperately trying to find a power supply that can handle the digitech whammy 4's 9vAC 1300mA requirements. any suggestions? thanks!
Ah wait, I'm using the Whammy 5 these days. I can't quite remember how I powered the Whammy 4 actually. Just check the Cioks website, I'm sure the info is on there. Basically the Ciokolate is designed to be able to power everything I believe.
