Tech 21 RK5 Flyrig Ver2.0 

Hello,,I always see your videos,,,you are very clear in explanation and play very well,,,I have a question: if you compare the sound of this rk5 with ts9 or this kind of overdrive, you feel that the rk5 sounds with more bright or "harsh"? I want to buy this for simple jams but maybe is not the type of overdrive that I want,,,,I use a BBpreamp as a crunch sound, and add a ts9 for overdriven solo

It would be awesome if you could help Tech 21 design a pedal for worship music.

Ok, help me out guys. Fly Rig 5 V2 or RK5 V2. I love that the RK has a Compressor, the V2 seems to be more versatile on the OD side.

Hey Jonathan, nice playing. When you mentioned you use this unit in church I really tuned in. I use the original Fly Rig 5 to play in church. I prefer the sound of the Plexi over the OMG (even though I prefer the red/black color :) ). I'd love to know how you overcome the limitations of the unit with today's modern worship music...dotted 8th delay, shimmer reverb, swells, etc. I love the simplicity and portability of the unit...as well as the great tones and it being all-analog signal path, but I really wish it had CHORUS separate from delay and the ability to get different delay modes such as dotted 8th and some different reverbs such as shimmer. So many worship guitarists have gone Helix, but I have avoided that because I don't need 100 amps and 250 effects (or the price tag). They are cool and sound very good though. I've just been thinking of how I can achieve the worship tones that are prevalent in so many recordings these days. Thanks and I appreciate your thoughts and your playing. Blessings. For my own original Christian hard rock/metal band...I have a Mooer 005, but I've been thinking of getting the PRS MT15 and running my Fly Rig into the front end...that will essentially give me a 3 channel amp with a nice clean with reverb, a Plexi crunch tone, and that 6L6 glorious roaring metal gain channel on the amp. I still don't have chorus though :(

Hey Jon, which one would you choose between this and the Nux Cerberus? Asking as I own the Cerberus but considering buying the RK5 V2 now..

Excellent demo and superb playing. I real liked the original, but you have inspired me to purchase the new one. You get one of the most pleasant, beautiful and Harmonically rich lead tones reminiscent of Flying in a Blue Dream Joe Satriani

The first few seconds of your playing sold me, got that smooth jazz vibe.. at 65, I just want to lighten the weight of my gear as much as possible. and def straight into the mixer or PA. currently using Headrush Gigboard at 7 lbs.. now comparing the RK5 with the DSM Simplifier mk2, both same price..

Great video! I have version 1 since day one. Been using it for the last 5 years until recently. The OMG side is great. I too wish it had a loop send return option. Looking into getting version2. You might have talked me into it.

Hello Jonathan, I saw a lot of videos of the RK5 V2, but it was yours that helped me take the final decision. So, thank you very much! :) I got the unit yesterday and it's beautiful! The only disappointment is that mine came in a cardboard box and not the "tin box" like yours.

I love pedal strips like this. I'm still waiting for a company to Make an Ambient atmospheric pedal that does it all. Like a sweet cavernous, shimmers and airy reverbs and killer clean and od sims with delays and choruses boosts and that would be my pedal. Oh and looper. Heheheh.

Hallo erstmal - pretty good sound and not much space on the pedalboard with all effects on. I like those "funky" tune at the beginning, why can i buy so less music from you? Even my wife comes into my tiny "studio" to listen - she recognises when you are on the speakers 😎. Thanks for the review. 🖖

Nice review. I played mine in high gain mode into the fx loop return of a boogie MV combo and it sounded thick and meaty!! Had to crank the treble knobs though

I have had the RK5-v1 since it was released and I saw a Brett Kingman demo of it. Sold! When I heard that Kotzen had worked with Tech21 to re-engineer the pedal to work for him today, I waited with bated breath. It was worth the wait. This is basically all you need to do any gig. All in one small, light pedal. I really want to proclaim my love for it on a mountain top. lol I tried to tell someone about it on a forum today and they said.. It sounds okay, but it is still digital. I reminded him that the entire drive section of the pedal is all analog, but he could not get it. He didn't want to get it. He argued about it. It is nice to see you showing this gem the love. I have gigged with this and it always works and is super easy to plug and go. No amp to drag around. You are a smart guy and stay open minded. Even in our advanced age it is very important to keep our eyes, and ears open. The cost of this is around $329 USD, which is worth every penny... PS. Richie Kotzen uses two of them at the same time, so he can use Fuzz and Roto on one and OMG and Delay on the other. Keep on rocking it J-Man...
