Fly Rigs are INCREDIBLE! Made for the traveling musician, but great anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love tech 21! best analog amp emulations on the market!!! i still have my tech 21 VT bass 1st gen and it is still always on on my board since i got it in 2008

The OMG can be pretty heavy, so I dial the drive down for the kind of music I play (Rhythm for an 80's cover band). You have to really like the sound because it's only got two knobs (drive and tone. +level). All amps I've plugged into (recently, a rockerverb, JCM800, and an Ibanez solid state thing) were able to give me the same tone with some level adjustment. Great consistency.

WRXjasonSTI Would it be correct to say that the distortion from the RK5 is rather mid-heavy? I've seen some AB-comparisons between FR5 & RK5 and to me it sounded like the FR5 had less mids and more of a scooped distortion.

These sound fantastic. I know a couple guys in a band who only use these for their guitar and bass sounds live.

Andertons is killing it with this NAMM coverage, such great work! The Cali Fly Rig looks really appealing. I'd love to see Tech 21 put out a Fly Rig kinda based on a Fender amp using a similar lay out as the Bass Fly Rig. Three knob compressor, Boost with pre/post option, overdrive, Sansamp (lifted from Blonde Character Series pedal), and Tremolo/Tuner switch instead of Chorus/Tuner (as on the Bass Fly Rig). That would be KILLER for country, blues, and roots rockers.

I agree. I was disappointed that the other Fly Rigs don't include (what I'd consider very useful features) the extras on the Bass Fly Rig. I hope next year they can step it up to that

They claimed the original FR5 was a blonde sansamp basically with the addition of a Plexi. I have & it sure seems that way.

That's cool to know. I've been trying to gather opinions based on videos alone and the two seem to sound different, like the Blonde is much cleaner and clearer at low gain settings. But admittedly, I haven't been fortunate to try both side by side. I probably should seek them out sometime.

Definitely. A compressor and tuner are essential in any guitar rig. Also pre/post for the boost should be a no brainier.

Agree with the boost. Being able to put the boost after the OD for a volume bump would be nice. Tuner would be nice too...

I've never not used my original sansamp. it has always been a part of my sound and on my board since 1990. it almost doesn't matter what amp I plug into... get a decent clean sound and off you go!!

Best pedal I ever bought - I use the original Fly rig 5 in front of my fender excelsior pro - its turns a goood basic amp into a really verstaile sound pallete. and it fiths in a fender hard case. Dont know why Andertons never stocks them?

It's nice having the new models but I'm really disappointed they couldn't add a DI, tuner and other features the Bass Fly Rig has in the same size.

Bill Stickers Absolutely agree! Especially xlr out would have been killer. I'm assuming that the Q strip at the end of the video means that they want guitarists to buy both Fly Rig & separate DI... If so we'll probably have to wait a long time before they put a xlr out on the Fly Rig :( Hope I'm wrong though!

Sounds gorgeous. Can anyone explain how it works equally good into a PA as into an amp? The Sansamp acts as a preamp and takes away those nasty "dry" highs and such, ok, but how can it work just as good into a standard guitar amp? It should be too much processing going on so to speak, but I've heard the demos and man... Do they sound great or what!

Jonatan OTW i use the brit version at my church. I run it into a DI box and out to the board. The sound is great and the signal is super easy for the sound guy to work with. I went this route for ease of setting up and to help keep the stage volume down. The fly rig was the perfect solution for me.

Idk how it works but the accuracy and crispness is insane when its straight to PA. I almost prefer the sound lol
