Office vacancies in San Francisco are expected to hit an all-time high this quarter. Amanda Hari reports. Website: kpix.com/ RU-vid: / cbssanfrancisco Facebook: / cbssanfrancisco Instagram: / kpixtv Twitter: / kpixtv
In SF you get robbed by both the city officials and the street criminals. Don'tbblame the businesses for leaving when you create the conditions that make them want to leave.
um... no, they aren't the one's doing the robbing dude. It's the corps doing the robbing, leaving the rest of society with crumbs to quarrel over. They own the real estate, they raise the rent and cost of living, they buy elected officials, they buy policy decisions, they get tax incentives/subsidies/etc, they push to redirect public school funding to charter schools. All to maximize profit. Musk wants lower waged workers, less worker protections and more tax handouts-Texas offered him that.
Democratic policies caused this and people want to vote for Kamala Harris. You want American to be like Oakland and SF? I’m a democrat btw, I’m not voting.
you voted for the democrats. You will do it again for the presidency to keep the USA in steep decline. A woman who got her way to the top by sleeping with the right Democrat.
Imagine the tax revenue that has been lost! SF seems to be in a death spiral. How bad will it have to get before people vote for something different? I never thought they’d let it get this bad.
What does crime have to do with X's revenue? It's an excuse for him to do what he was planning to do. He wants low taxes and low salaries. Texas provided that for him. It's that simple. Nothing more, nothing less.
The police got the message loud and clear and will provide the level of service the voters wanted and called for. As the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for because you might get it.
Dont blame elon musk for this, blame the politicians in California you voted into offices for these things that are happening. This is the results of terrible run leadership in the government of California.
Well…that won’t happen. They’re trying to collect a check ya know…if they can destroy the local economy by pushing ideological policies that don’t work in real life, all the better.
Did I hear it correctly? The guy opened a comedy club & cocktail lounge in SF close to X's former HQ in 2024. He didn't know what's happening to SF in the past few years?
Yeah, wild. He never questioned why his lease rate was so cheap or why the area was vacant of “paying customers” before he moved in. The guy sounds like an idiot. The City has been doing its best to drive away business. He’s next and doesn’t even know it, but blames Musk 😂
No, they don't want to pay taxes nor the SF salaries. Ironically, it's these corps which prevent the city from investing in communities that created the problems y mention above. They own the housing, they raise the prices to make more profit, they make living conditions worse, they push for defunding public schools, they push for redirecting tax dollars to their neighborhoods. This is the result.
@@gregorymilla9213 Moved my sister into the Bay area around eleven years ago. We moved her out last year. Its like some Eastern European third world nightmare now. Couldn't believe just how bad the entire area looked. Pretty sad. I used to spend every free moment up there when I was in the service in the early and mid 90s. You would have to pay me to go back now.
Funny thing is, Liberals HATE comedy. It shows how ludicrous their ideals really are. One can only laugh when pointing out the truths of the last 4 years.
Many of the employees that worked in downtown SF are now working in San Diego, Miami, Mexico City, Austin to name a few where the quality of life is much better.
@@reempire888 I was going to name another city in Mexico that was at recently however, I didn’t want to give more Bay Area people any ideas. That city was insane, people from all over the world, working there having a good time. Food, laughter and safety.
Forget any part of Mexico or any Latin American country. South Florida is where all global companies go to set up their LATAM headquarters or business in Latin America. The corruption, fraud, and crime is far too much to tolerate.
No, the people working in SF aren't moving to Texas to work-they're getting laid off. Musk is moving to get lower paid workers, with less worker protections, less regulations, cheaper real estate and tax handouts from Texas. These corps run the country, things are the way they are because they insist on enriching themselves over the well being of society.
If there was any silver lining from 2020-2022, it's that we found out that some companies can be run from anywhere. Locating yourself in a crowded, unsafe, and trendy area is expensive and unnecessary.
Why on earth did you think it was a good investment to open a club/restaurant in SF in the current climate and leadership? "But U-Haul was charging such nominal fees to rent trucks moving in to the city..."
Businesses create cities. Businesses create economy. Businesses also fail cities If San Francisco was just a town with peope living there in houses without any businesses, those houses would have zero value. That’s the simple version of the economic ecosystem.
"Tax breaks" aren't the problem; high crime & bums defecating & urinating in the streets in broad daylight are the problem. If the city feels it has to give businesses "tax breaks" to incentivize them to stay, then that indicates there's a much bigger problem involved.
This has nothing to do with Covid. Covid is nothing more thanthe catch-all ready-made cop-out excuse for people who can't/won't think about an issues deeply enough to see the underlying issues involved to solve the problem.
The Covid excuse is so ridiculous. It’s obviously the Liberal/Progressive policies that are routed in delusion. People don’t want Equality of Outcome. Reality wants Merit based success. Also most people don’t want Communism.
They say 38% but Im sure the real numbers are much higher... the numbers they are giving are Democrat numbers which are ALWAYS way off from reality ... couldn't happen to a nicer city
It’s hilarious that people think that space will go to the people in need 😂😂😂😂😂 the people in charge of the city would rather eat all the 💩 off the street before doing that 😂😂😂😂
I feel bad for this small business person. He thinks someone will move into X's former office space soon. Unfortunately, the exit from S.F. has not stopped. The city leaders and justice systems have created another Detroit. I am part of a new AI startup and S.F. is not on our list of future locations. Not even with 100% free rent.
The commercial sector is finished, and tax revenues are tremendously reduced. Marauding locusts shall work their way east with no need to feast in the barren landscape of Oakland. Residential communities are easy targets.
Many more people and companies will move out. Small businesses should thank their govenor for doing nothing to retain these companies, and yet you still vote for Newsome
The effect on the local economy is devastating. The former Lines Dance Center school a few blocks down from Twitter shut down this year after many years of vibrant life because too many of the afterwork students disappeared after businesses began shutting down.. it's sad.
Great comments on here. On what the true problem is!! Business are against the wall what is to expect? Someone failed and won't take the responsibility for it!!
@@lacha608 big for who? SF city budget is 14 billion, Twitter revenue pre elon acquisition was 4 to 5 billion. SF spends anywhere between 1.1 billion (2021) to 2.8 billion in (2016) on homelessness. 70 million is a chump change that corrupt quasi communist city officials are using as conversation piece for NPCs that "city did everything", when in fact they are doing everything in their power to push them out. "gentrified" - isn't valid excuse either. can't please this quasi commies, move in and it is gentrification, move out and it is flight, can't please whichever way you go.
I just looked at the stores left in SF Center Mall (Now Emporium Center). Looks to be 75% vacant. SF isn't coming back. Also, check out the prices on Zillow of SOMA condos that are going for $1M+ discounts.
Why wouldn’t they flee, did anyone know that companies pay a tax for renting an office in SF? In addition, they are assessed a homeless tax. Both these expenses run the companies in the millions with no transparency to where this funds go. It is Only implied that it goes to where its supposed to, but in the mean time, corruption at City hall is at record levels.
San Francisco is a wonderful city with lots of history, entertainment and food, but far too expensive to live and do business in, add in remote working and there isn't a reason why companies need to keep a physical presence within the city.
