Tech Tuesday is quickly becoming the reason to look forward to the dullest of weekdays. Thanks for all you're sharing. I'm again truly inspired and educated about this deceptively complex instrument.

Really great. Yes, I had a friend who was an industrial designer (phd, in mechanical engineering) and I was truly amazed with the amount of work which goes in to making something like a pull top tuna can.

That’s fascinating Brendan. Thanks for sharing all of this. I thoroughly enjoy watching and hearing about your creative processes play out. Quite inspiring!

Thanks for your kind words Sandy, as well as long-term support! I appreciate the fact that someone of your skill and reputation has such an open mind towards trying new harmononica ideas 👍

very impressive.....nice work. I don't even play diatonic, but how you come up with those ideas is impressive.....very cool...

Thanks Jon! Crazy chromatic ideas coming up soon. Actually the chromatic has even more potential for modification, because it has twice the number of reeds 👍

I suppose if you made one for the whole draw plate you could create a sort of "palm muting" effect similar to when you are picking fast staccato on a guitar?

Outstanding, Brendan - loving your tech blueprint software. You've become a bonafide engineer! Great narration too. Well explained and easily understood. And yes, as they say, it's all in the tiny details. Do you edit your own vids? Bravo good sir.

Ta Ross! Editing credit goes to David Ireland in this case 👍

There's a few things I'd like to buy from you. I'm getting ready to go big time and I'll need some custom harps you have for a stellar performance.

Far out!!!! BTW : does your slipslider Design make sense at a Richter scale bluesharp? Thx anyway , Peter
@BrendanPowerMusic
@BrendanPowerMusic Год назад
Definitely! That's the whole idea: generate more bends on standard Richter diatonics. I've created three versions now - this part was for the first one. Here's the link: brendan-power.com/SlipSlider.php#SlipSliderHohner

Eliminate the reeds and let software make sounds.

Your comment characterizes the problem that musicians face today: Too few people appreciate their artistic skills. Unless electronics or computers are involved the average bumpkin believes that it is all "old fashioned" and nothing special. A *real* musician makes the sounds and effects *without* such artificial aids. And the same applies to the instrument builder. These skills are so under-values that it makes me sick. This is not intended to put down electronic music, but to put down your point. Try to do these things yourself before making such absurd remarks.

Soon we'll be able to eliminate the player and the composer as well

I like to do both: play traditional harmonicas with reeds as well as MIDI harmonicas with no reeds, but breath sensors instead. They both have their charms 👍

@@BrendanPowerMusic I've been playing harmonica for 50 years. I think a MIDI harmonica should play same as the harmonica that I am used to playing. Simple Venturi effect uses the same draw/blow talent to play, if only a microphone's software could detect it and add sound overlay.
